How f***ing good is this match?
Like... everything is perfect and the crowd reaction is still... AMAZING.
All these years later and I still hey chills when Hogan starts to Hulk Up.
I kno they partially called an audible and went with Rock playing the Heel, but f*** it, Hogan should have won lol.
What's everyone else think? Does it still hold up?

Really never at all done it for me. Can definitely get where the atmosphere would do a lot to carry it for people into both acts colliding but both Rock and Hogan are people I've never really enjoyed so it's kind of just, "Yeah, crowd's hot, but it's for two guys I don't really care about having a mediocre match so whatever."

Man, if the two biggest stars in the history of wrestling don't do it for you... who does?

Man, if the two biggest stars in the history of wrestling don't do it for you... who does? Plenty of other people? I kind of just never gelled with Hogan's whole shtick and tended to find Rock's random, "I'm just going to try to get whatever syllables first came to me when I first woke up this morning over as an insult," style of humor obnoxious. Really only ever consistently enjoyed Rock during his Hollywood Rock run.

One of the greatest matches I’ve ever seen and one of the hottest crowds. The commentary makes it as well JR & King are at the top of their game here.
Is it technically great? Of course not but screw that.

It's a perfect example of how diverse wrestling can be. It's a pretty terrible match AS A MATCH but is a totally enjoyable spectacle. And I respect Rock's professionalism for being willing to go heel once they heard the crowd response. He was never getting that crowd on his side.

Hogan is one of the most underrated workers in history by modern fans. When he cared (until WM7) he was hard to match.

This match is pure magic. The last truly authentic showing for Hulkamania before it became a nostalgia tour, and pretty amazing that Hogan rebounded from being the most stale act in wrestling 7-8 years prior to getting the biggest pops of his career.

Yea. This match is easily 5 stars. They got louder pops just staring at each other than most people get their whole careers.
Like... I kno there's a large contingent who wanted Austin in this spot, but I don't think he'd have handled the crowd as well.
And that's not a knock on Austin, so much as a praise on the Rock.

I was never, ever a Hogan fan but even I had goosebumps when he kicked out of the Rock Bottom and started hulking up. Just an absolutely iconic moment/match.
I remember it being so much bigger on the night than people were expecting after the build. They had that segment in Chicago when the match was first made but after that it didn't exactly have the feel of an all-timer of a match. The buyrate also suggests it wasn't super hot. On the night though it was magic.

Should have gone on last. The atmosphere is insane, they really caught lighting in a bottle. Might have made HHH/Y2J a bit more palatable.

I think it holds up quite well. The atmosphere is just so tough to beat.
I remember pulling for The Rock and my mom pulling for Hogan when we were watching it.

JR'S "Oh my God" as Hogan is Hulking Up is such an underrated call! Almost immediately followed by "He beat Andre The Giant with that move!!"

Noone gave a f*** about Y2J VS HHH & Jericho being pussy whipped without pussy. Meanwhile Hogan was getting monster pops and so was Rock. Rock/ Hogan should have been main event, but HHH was banging the bosses daughter and wanted to be the big returning hero.
