Well, he almost won *a* title. He made it to the final round of the tournament for the vacant television title, losing to Paul Orndorff. I have a funny story about the bounty mentioned in the opening post. Clash of the Champions 21 was the first WCW show I ever watched, and Jim Ross and Jesse Ventura talked about the bounty that Michael Hayes was trying to collect. I was nine years old at the time and barely into my wrestling fandom, so I had never heard of a bounty match before. Heck, I didn’t even know what a bounty was. So I’m sitting there all confused and thinking, “what are these guys talking about? I don’t see anything on his head!” Yeah, I could see him get some midcard title, even under Bill's watch. That's about it. And didn't they keep this bounty storyline going long after Paul E. (who put the bounty on his head in the first place) left the company? Or am I thinking of the bounty on the Yellow Dog long after Barry Windham turned face (he was the one who did it originally)?

Bill Watts was a lot of things but I don't think he was stupid enough to push Erik THAT hard.

If there was a title to win it would have been during TNA

Hell no, they had him steamroll over guys like Austin, Eaton and Anderson but they had him look on equal footing with the U.S Champ Rick Rude.
At the most I would have had him with a brief TV title run before getting beaten by someone like Paul Orndorff or Steve Austin.
He should have been in tags and then ease him into singles competition.

Or am I thinking of the bounty on the Yellow Dog long after Barry Windham turned face (he was the one who did it originally)? They did continue it even after Paul E. left. Paul E. stopped appearing after the November Clash when he had the Battle of the Sexes Match with Madusa and there was another Bounty Match scheduled for the January Clash with Cactus Jack trying to collect. However Erik got "suspended" after getting "arrested" for the Arn Anderson gas station fight. Cactus then ended up fighting and defeating Johnny B. Badd instead. They were in the middle of turning Cactus face at the time and pushing him towards a feud with Vader so him losing to Erik wouldn't have made any sense and obviously the Cowboy wasn't going to have his boy lose either. So doing the angle with Arn to get him out of the match makes sense as did putting Badd in there instead as him and Cactus had a falling out and lost when paired together in the Lethal Lottery the month before at Starrcade. Cactus and Badd should've been the match to begin with anyways.

If Erik Watts is your company’s world champion, then you might be an outlaw mud show.
