Sid was just the best. As a little Stinger in the early 90's, I was afraid Sid could rip Sting's arms off and beat him with them. As a HBK hater in the mid-90's, I rooted for exactly that to happen to Michaels. He's a lot like other top guys where you didn't have to change a whole lot in him being a heel or face; he was a believable badass either way. It's funny that so many of the wrestlers of those days had their career derailed by drugs or alcohol or painkillers, and with Sid it was just softball. He also insisted on being a heel. He also wasn’t very observant. He told Sean Mooney on his old podcast he had no idea he main evented Mania 8 against Hogan. He said he thought it was a house show. Not sure why he thought this house show had 60,000 people, cameras, pre tapes, and WrestleMania banners everywhere, but he said it, not me. He's weird in that he seemed savvy about some things, like wanting to be a heel since that's where the money was as a big man, and he was perfectly willing to uproot to go from one company to the next to stay fresh to audiences, but he also had those oddities like you mention, or things like going along with Russo telling him to play up being an idiot as his thing like the "half the brain you do" promo. I'm sure WCW was paying him a lot of goddamn money, so I guess I get it, but it does seem odd coming from a guy who seemed pretty conscious of his image.

SID was the man. I think he was the first heel I cheered over the faces. When you talk about the "IT" factor that you can't teach, Sid should be the poster boy for it.
His 96-97 run and his "undefeated streak" in WCW are the stuff of legend.

Probably one of my fave examples that swag and charisma pretty much shines in any era in any promotion.

f***ing love Sid. 1999 WCW gets a lot of shit and rightfully so but as a kid the Goldberg/Sid feud is one of the first things that got me into wrestling.
I think the closest thing to Sid nowadays is Braun. Neither appear to be the smartest guys in the world but wrestling wise they always have that connection with the crowd. When their music hits people go crazy and want to see someone get f***ed up.

And he has half the brain that we do! People point to this... but dude was actually an awesome promo. He's one of the few guys that made screwing up lines f'ing awesome! It NEVER bothered me when he f'd up promos. He just came off as literally nuts and a beast and I loved it.

I just watched this PPV... my God was he over. Even after he beat the hell out of Sweatsock, the crowd LOVED him! I HATED HBK & thought the whole "Boyhood dream" thing was the dumbest shit ever. This is one of my favorite matches ever. Shawn is visibly bothered by the crowd rejecting him, and Sid is the man. I've said it alot, but HBK was shoved down our throats so hard I feel like I should sue WWE for sexual Assault.

True he wasn't the most scientific wrestler, but damn whenever I watch old matches, I always look forward to seeing Sid on the cards he was on.

Sid chokeslamming Vader, Bulldog and Owen Hart after the hot tag in the main event of International Incident was magic - he owned that building.

Sid’s genius was his ability to make stuff work that would’ve killed any other wrestler. The promos, for example, or going full Fred Flintstone when Goldberg crushed his car, or when he trashed the Barber Shop set and a can of shaving foam exploded. You’d look at anyone else with a face full of shaving foam and point and laugh, but with Sid you looked at him and thought “This man is f***ing unhinged.”

Just watched the January 91 clash. Just his entrance alone was amazing. He stood on the ramp back to and slowly turned and you just know Vince saw that and wondered when his contract was up.
Also fun fact he was supposed to squash JYD who no showed. So he squashed Joey Maggs

Sid's WM8 entrance still gives me chills.
I never liked Hogan, and yet I was actually SCARED for Hogan when I was 12 years old.
I wish it'd been a torch passing match and that the WWF would have been Sid's world for the next year or two. I bet he could have had some well remembered World title matches with Macho and Bret.
