"Ric Flair's Last Match that turns out isn't his last match after all" Which turned out to be a surprise to, let's see...1,2,3-oh yeah, nobody.

The Wes Lee vs. Trick Williams Rounds match or the Gacy vs. Bron Breakker feud. God, I love NXT. If you put it that way, what about anything involving Wendy Choo?

Never forget the time she turned Mandy Rose into a lobster due to messing with the tanning bed temperature, which led to Jacy Jayne grimacing in horror.

Wasn't the go-home line for the McIntyre-Corbin/Moss Mania match a joke about Drew's deceased mom?
That feud and the subsequent Corbin-Moss feud was pretty Wrestlecrap to me.

Scorpio/Sammy might be worth a Gooker just because it has a lot to it. There's Guevara's increasing meta-reasons heat, there's the awkward way that Sammy and Tay were inserted into an angle that was obviously meant for Cody Rhodes, there's Lambert's consistent failure at getting anyone cheered while making increasingly unwatchable TV, there's the successful double turn that was immediately followed by a double turn back that went against the grain of crowd reactions. That last bit alone would make it worthy of a deluxe worst-of-the-year induction, even if I don't think it has a chance in a poll. Worth amending to add: I think it would make an excellent Gooker-sized Wrestlecrap induction. I don't think the Wrestlecrap writers could do it well.

Plus you have assorted weirdness along the way like Sammy and Tay heroically smashing up Lambert's shit and the whole thing ultimately ending up being a weird half-assed framing for PVZ to have her debut match where she wrestled for like a minute of it and then subsequently vanished off the face of the earth.

I really, really hope the fall of Vince McMahon isn't nominated. The last thing we need is a hee haw joke article about sexual misconduct.

I really, really hope the fall of Vince McMahon isn't nominated. The last thing we need is a hee haw joke article about sexual misconduct. There have been Gookers written before that were not hee haw, specifically the Invasion and Eddiesplotation. Absolutely think Vince would be handled in much the same way if this were to win it. Maybe there would be a joke when talking about that month where Vince tried to make himself the biggest babyface in the company, but the rest of the article would be handled seriously.

I have really hope they leave stuff like the Punk scrum off the list but I know they won't This and the Vince shit should be at the top of the list. Imo, they both shouldn't. As awful as those things are, The Gooker should be reserved to "honor" stupid kayfabe stories and events. Not real life incidents.

I agree it shouldn't be anything too serious behind the scenes so it had to be Control Your Narrative. As Braun said "why so serious?"
Wesuk gets a honourable mention but not putting on a show makes it too hard to write up.

I've seen every Dynamite but one and every Rampage and I completely blacked out 90% of the Scorpio Sky /America's Top team vs SamTay until this thread. God that was absolute elephant crap. You know Kaz is happy to have these great runs in Impact this year to wash off the stank of being involved in this.

Can't forget (in my opinion) the absolute low point in the feud. Lambert kissing the belt and Sammy insinuating he, um how do I say this properly on the new FAN; left his DNA on the belt.

Has to be Ric Flairs last match due to the whirlwind of emotions. It was 5% funny, 40% sad and 55% scary at various times throughout. If there was ever a match that needed a point by point runthrough it would be that match.

I thought the point of the Gooker was basically "thing that was done by wrestling promoter with the intent of making money, but was really stupid and/or tasteless"

Personally I think the Gooker should be limited to the on-screen product. I feel people recently have used it as a means of venting against the behind the scenes stuff (Brass Rings) which goes against the spirit of the award. My personal pick would be Flair's Last Match. It received A LOT of fanfare for an Indie show, most of knew it wouldn't be Flair's last match rendering it pointless and the match itself was godawful.

Was the Ric Flair-Mark Madden imploding their own podcast this year? I know that might be peripheral wrestling media, but two carnies who kept tying their own dicks to their shoe tripping over each other in a hilariously awkward fallout was pretty great. Becky Lynch keeps giving Flair L's. What's this story? I don't remember hearing anything about it.

"Ric Flair's Last Match that turns out isn't his last match after all" Which turned out to be a surprise to, let's see...1,2,3-oh yeah, nobody. Thanks, if we're going to go the depressing route, and one with bad on-screen content no less, this should be nominated at least. The match sucked, the idea sucked, etc. etc. Forget Michael Bay, Ric Flair rapes our childhoods when he pulls something like this. Conrad is no better hyping it up.

Got a feeling that it'll be "everything Vince" and the CM Punk meltdown in the top two (in that order) and everything else is jockeying for runner-up.
Cody leaving AEW... was that this year? I feel that everything "Cody-verse" deserves a mention.

Men Of The Year & Dan Lambert's entire rise and fall in the past year has to be mine. Dudes were the closest thing that wrestling had to a f***ed up episode of Steve Wilcos.
