It can be the exact same fans, but it doesn't change the fact that Black and Gold era NXT felt way more authentic compared to "this feels artificial and fake" like NXT currently.
They could have copy and pasted the crowd person for person, doesn't change the fact that it feels less genuine. Yeah Full Sail were their own biggest fans. Yeah they cheered for themselves. Yeah they chanted cringey stuff sometimes.
That only enforces the point that they had their OWN voices. No matter how bad or cringe it was. It was still "them". The crowd now feels as genuine as fool's gold.
I get 100% what the OP is saying. I checked out NXT..white and gold?...for the soft reboot, and while an improvement over the 2.0 set-up that I hated and gave me headaches, it wasn't what I was hoping it would be.
It's still hollow, and doesn't have the real passion that Black and Gold had. I couldn't imagine this current crowd getting a proper Takeover, and delivering like they used to.
And trust me I was as tired of Full Sail as the next guy back in the day, but absence makes the heart grow fonder, and an inferior replica makes me appreciate what it used to be. From the good to the god awful.
You can have the same people there, as said, but if there's no soul there it's gonna be noticeable.
It's along the same lines of why I loved old school ROH, but can't stand to watch new NWA. Maybe I'm just not a "Studio Show" kinda guy.

I like how you say “doing a Full Sail impression” as though that crowd didn’t have the same issues. The Full Sail crowd was worse. Don't forget them booing because a Takeover was going to Brooklyn, and they just couldn't have somebody else getting a Takeover. I loved how Kevin Owens called them out on that, when he said something to the effect of “you guys want us to expand and get better, then you get mad when we go somewhere else!”

Like King Devit said the real difference despite even having some of the same audience from full sail at the PC is the authenticity.
the PC crowd sound like they go through a rehearsal and are given specific roles to fulfill...like Solo Sikoa being that over still remains forever baffling.
The full sail crowd atleast sounded genuine and authentic even if they at times were putting themselves over.

I like how you say “doing a Full Sail impression” as though that crowd didn’t have the same issues. It's generally what happens when you play to the same crowd every week... and I mean that mostly literally... as the same people would usually come out to the Full Sail tapings every single week. (just like when TNA would tape at the Impact Zone the same group would mostly show up there) I don't doubt that the same group of people are going to the Capital Wrestling Center, that said unless the plan is to have NXT do it's own Tours (which somewhat defeats the purpose of NXT) there's really no way around it. And I think a lot of the Full Sail people were also Impact Zone people.

The crowd is by far the worst part of NXT. Like that little clique of fans at Halloween Havoc dressed in the Scooby Doo costumes who all got up and turned their backs to the screen at the end because I guess they don't like Bron and it was oh so important they make a big obviously pre-planned demonstration for everybody to see. Just stuff like that reminds me of the old Impact Zone crowds. When you have the same people for the most part every week it's never a good thing.

It's just hard to tell what is actually getting over since those fans have interesting fan favorites/non-favorites. Like them being giant Solo Sikoa marks to the point where Grimes was getting loudly booed. Even if it's a small amount of fans, they stand out weekly in a crowd that small.

The Full Sail crowd felt like an old school ROH crowd (but a bit more PG and fortunately no one like Green Lantern Fan) while what I've seen of the NXT 2.0 crowd feels like an an old TNA Impact Zone crowd. As someone mentioned earlier, it's probably a lot of the same people. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the same people went to AEW Dark tapings at the former Impact Zone in Universal Studios, too.

Nah its the same folks I believe there's a lot of overlap with those fans. It doesn't help Izzys parents trying to get themselves play pied piper with these audience members on who to cheer and who to shit on.
