Nash’s early WWF time is weird. Maybe Vince wasn’t 100% sure on him being much more than a valet at Survivor Series but then he’s booked like a monster a couple of months later at the Rumble. Then at their biggest show he’s valeting again and is sent to the back minutes in. A few weeks later he beats Razor for the I/C title and the push starts again. I have wondered what Nash was thinking around that Survivor Series taking such a quick loss. Granted, it was to Macho Man but he had to have been thinking a loss like that wasn't much better than his time in WCW. The old rumor had it his spot in the Rumble 94 was slated for Ludvig Borga so that would have been interesting to see how he fared if Ludvig had been in there. I wonder how many guys bolt before a PPV pay day. Bad News obviously the same PPV in 1990 and I think Shane Douglas and Scott Norton at Slamboree 93. Akeem told the story in a shoot about telling Vince he was leaving, tired of the travel as a big man in small cars and planes. Vince was disappointed in him and said he had plans for Akeem for Survivor Series (doubt anything other than just being a fourth wheel) but Akeem didn't care-he was done. I doubt that Borga rumor just mainly because about a week before the Rumble they had a House Show at MSG (which was also the show Borga got injured at and ended up never returning) that actually had a Royal Rumble on it where they actually did a trial run with Diesel with him eliminating everybody one by one probably to test it out and see how well it would get over with the crowd. So it was clearly something they had planned. If anything I'm guessing Fatu ended up taking Borga's role in the match as he looked so out of place being in the final four with Bret, Shawn, and Luger. Bret, Shawn, Luger, and Borga would've made much more sense. Especially since Borga had just had a main event program with Luger.

HBK!
1991: Rockers/Bushwhackers lose a near sweep to The Nasty Boys and the goddamn Beverly Brothers.
1992: Reigning IC Champion challenging for the World Title
1993: Returns from suspension to take Jerry Lawler’s place captaining a team of jobbers in another near sweep at the hands of Bret Hart, a still-jobberish Owen and their two dweeb brothers.

I'm surprised Scott Hall did that burial of Curt/Mr. Perfect. He seems like a guy who would go against the company to protect his buddies. I wonder what would come of Macho Man if Mr. Perfect were at the event. Having Macho at the announce booth would probably kill Bobby's last PPV appearance but Macho would have to be involved somehow in the show for the Crush skits. Hennig comes off like the kind of guy that would've said to Hall, "Bury me. It will get you over with the crowd and then if I come back, I can be a heel again." As for the topic, there is nothing I love more on (w)rest than a good Survivor Series thread. Savage had a roller coaster Survivor Series history. He was a captain and survivor every year from 1987-89 who was reduced to an interview spot during intermission in 1990 (that I'm not sure even aired in all markets - it was placed at a spot where lots of cable providers often ran movie trailers and local ads). He went from being a three time Survivor to talking to Mean Gene begging for a title match from the Ultimate W...chicken, yeah. In 1991, he gets bitten by a snake and Tunney still won't let him fight. Finally in 1992, he he's back on top and gets a win in the advertised Main Event. He closes his Survivor Series career in 1993 by replacing the previously mentioned Mr. Perfect and eliminating Diesel. He's only eliminated because he is distracted by Crush in the aisle and rolled up by IRS. Which come to think of it, losing focus and hurting his team isn't all that much better than Perfecto, who tag out before the match starts. So maybe ends on a lukewarm note.

Fun fact: Owen Hart never won a Survivor Series(at least surviving the elimination matches), but he did have a rocky history...
1988:As The Blue Blazer, was on The Warrior's team and got eliminated by Greg "The Hammer" Valentine.
1992:Forms a tag team with Koko B. Ware who were defeated by The Headshrinkers *fall
1993:Eliminated two people(one of them was making Greg Valentine in a blue mask making him submit in a role reversal from 1988) and while he was the only one eliminated, it did kickstart a major feud between him and his brother Bret. *rise
1994:Gets counted out along with the rest of his team to advance a feud between co-captains Diesel and Shawn Michaels. *fall
1995:Gets eliminated by Ahmed Johnson. *about the same as the previous year
1996:Picks up an elimination in Henry Godwinn, but gets eliminated himself by newcomer Doug Furnas *slight rise
1997:Losing the IC title to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin *slight rise
1998:Is regulated to the pre-show where he appears as The Blue Blazer lowering to the rafters only to get beat up by Steve Blackman *MAJOR fall
Virgl went from being on a team with three future Hall of Famers(Roddy Piper, British Bulldog, and Bret Hart) in 1991 to losing to Yokozuna in less than 4 minutes the following year.

Dolph Ziggler comes to mind.
2014 he wins a 3 on 1 disadvantage for his team in what many consider one of his best performances in the main event.
2015 he loses to Tyler Breeze in a filler match.

It was actually only Sheik who accompanied Sultan to the ring at the Free For All and I think at the 97 Rumble and Sheik was with him more than Backlund which makes it odd to me he was used for the Jakks manager series with Sultan. I guess Sheik's outfit would be too difficult to make versus Backlund's plain suit.

Inside their own match…Pink, Wink and Dink. Doink gets eliminated, leaving them to get destroyed in a match it’s impossible for them to win because they can’t compete against Lawler. To be fair, when Doink gets eliminated, you can hear Gorilla say: “So has Lawler.” I guess we are supposed to believe that Jerry was supposed to leave but he didn’t.

I'm surprised Vince didn't have it done for Dink, Pink and Wink to get on top of Lawler and pin him or have the clowns and all the kings turn on him for a 6 man pin. But I'm sure Vince loved the pie in the face.

But I'm sure Vince loved the pie in the face. The image of Jerry getting pinned by three or six small people. I don’t know if that would be funny due to Jerry getting humiliated or would be down right bad.

I always saw a lot of similarities in the 1991 Duggan/Mustafa and 1996 FFA Gunn's teams. Those guys were like the lowest of the low card guys without being regular named jobbers. By 1991 guys like Duggan, Slaughter, Tornado, Tito, Hercules, Sheik, Berzerker and Skinner had probably reached their lowest point. In 1996 those guys were at an all time low but where most guys in 1991, if not all, never got any much higher, all but two guys on the 1996 teams saw their greatest success years later. Fatu, Bob Holly, Bradshaw, Billy and Bart, Jesse James all would find success in the next few years so they saw big rises.
