He's been fun but unless I misremember he is around the time he signed his two year contract in a few months. I doubt he will be going anywhere but shouldn't we do something with him beyond fun matches in the next year... I might be wrong

Fun matches have been the way to go, far as I'm concerned. I've generally enjoyed every match Sting has been in, and I feel like that would stop abruptly if he started doing more serious material or title programs.

How much would it cost to get him to put his brain in a robot spider body?

Dunno what higher level he'd even get to that Sting would be necessary for. If the abuse allegations haven't stopped a further push of Darby cold, then he's been built up enough that he could get a month-long title match build, win, and be pretty much accepted as credible. And if those allegations have in fact put a ceiling on Darby, then there's nothing more to be done except keep him warm enough that he can keep putting over upper midcard heels like he's been doing.

I do not want to see Sting vs Darby Allin. Just have Sting stick around as mentor and occasional tag team partner.

In a similar vein to how TNA was pivotal in Scott Steiner’s “character rehab”, I’m glad Sting got the same chance in AEW after his WWE run didn’t go quite as planned.

I mean..it kind of looked like we were getting that with Black and then…actually, I forget Blacks’s still with them, so I guess you could do something with that.
The way he’s been handled is perfect really. Ya can’t..I’m pretty sure a Darby turn absolutely wouldn’t work. I’d say if he plans on officially wrapping it up, you could do something with that. I still want sting and someone versus Jericho and someone. Wait, did we even get that? Lol I legit don’t know.

Before Sting retires, I want Darby to befriend face MJF against Sting's wishes.
Sting will say, "Kid, I've been there. Don't do it."
Darby will be like, "Yeah, but he knows this cool skateboard trick he wanted to teach me."
Sting will knowingly shake his head.
MJF will turn on Darby by smashing a skateboard over his dome, and instead of Sting helping his protégé, he'll leave saying, "Darby, my son. I have nothing left to teach you. Best of luck."

Could they just recast him as CM Punk now that the role is vacant?

Selfish me wants Sting to be mostly free agent so he can be in WWE games again. Doesn't ever have to appear on WWE TV if he doesn't want it.
AEW has been good at giving him final moments, and him and one of his greatest rivals together one last time was a great one to go out on if he doesn't re-sign.

Sting might be the best booked guy in the whole company.

Really not enjoyed his run at all but guess it's kind of hard to dispute it on a broad level. It's pretty much just been playing entirely on nostalgia, which it's been doing very well, but that's just not something I'm interested in.

I'm still not sure he has been allowed to be interviewed without being interrupted

I don't see how all his matches have played to nostalgia, especially at Forbidden Door, where his spots and interactions felt very fresh and fun There's always going to be some element of nostalgia to having Sting wrestle in the current day, but I give credit where it's due, Sting's done a lot of new and interesting spots and taken some big bumps someone like him never ever had to do again.

Even then at the end of the day every match he has at the end of the day is centered around, "Look who gets to interact with Sting today!" and there've never any deeper meaning or purpose or aim to any of it besides whoever it is losing to Sting every single time around. He never does anything of significance and he never has any sort of broader impact on anything. The end result of every single thing he's involved with is, "IT'S STIIIIIIIIIING!" and then he wins, with stupid crap along the way like him effectively singlehandedly beating the Acclaimed and then them immediately turning around into getting a title shot for no reason in their next televised match like it didn't even happen while he and Darby have never been ranked for no apparent reason despite being apparently unbeatable together. He's basically house show filler that interrupts the shows to run on logic no deeper than, "You liked Sting back in the day, right?" and as someone who never really especially cared about him (and has little use for nostalgia in wrestling in general) I just find it to be an obnoxious waste of time. Not a widespread opinion or anything, people are free to enjoy him anyway, but for me I just really can't bring myself to care about anything he does because it never has any real point beyond puffing up someone who doesn't really do anything of actual consequence.

I miss the Sting, Moxley, and Kingston friendship. It only lasted a few weeks, but it was fun and you could tell Kingston and Moxley loved working with Sting.

They’ve made about the next use of him possible. But outside of a tag title run with Darby I can’t think of what remains. The only in ring s e strip I want to see now would be Sting, Darby, Danhausen, and Dustin against whoever just for the spectacle of the face painted quartet

Sting given us way more than I think any of us expected from an in ring side of things. The role worked perfect for him an he going out the way he wanted to and for us fans how he should and at his age when he could just went off the fact he is Sting, he put in the work and did stuff we never thought he do. I know when the time comes, they have to do something special when he says it time. When he showed up nobody knew what we where getting and I don't think any of us thought we see him doing dives off stuff.
