Yeah i'd just like to hear peoples favourite storylines that isn't the obvious ones like Austin v Mcmahon
Hogan v Andre etc
Midcard feuds are what I always have and still do get more invested into. I guess I'm just weird.
I think it's because the world title/main event feud is always kept as broad as possible so it can be pushed as your main storyline for your biggest audience as a blanket to cover everyone, and then the mid card can be more specific underneath the main story, these are your funny characters, this is your heated feud, this is your wrestling match, etc, so they can get more personal and memorable, or it can just be there to entertain while the main event has to be more "serious" to be taken seriously as the main story.
Mine off the top of my head:
ddp 94-96, the neon spandex diamond doll max muscle bingo winner ddp. 94 feud vs evad sullivan for a date with kim, leads to johnny b badd slowly, match by match taking everything ddp has, to losing to bootyman, to he's magically back and self high-fiving. Great character work and on going story with the characters. His run is a high light on those 94-96 wcw shows
disco inferno vs dean malenko mid 1996. It only lasted a month, but it was really fun. Dean is trying to have his match, but disco comes out and says this is boring, hit my music, and he starts dancing while the match is going on, and he gets hit and goes flying out of the ring, his disco ball comes down from the ceiling and he uses it to hit the other guy, etc, so it leads up to a dean vs disco match at bash at the beach 1996, and disco is going back and forth in his head with "he hits a serious move on dean to get him down, but he forgets to cover him because he has to dance". After the ppv match, the whole thing was dropped, and it only lasted a month or so, but it was fun while it lasted.
ddp vs macho in 1997 was better than any of the hogan vs sting/piper/lex stuff.
doink/narcissist lex in 1993
Van dam in ecw, the tv title was over more than the world title because of how good he was
I like the brian lee/tammy vs dwb/dwg in smw, it was for their title, but it was never the main event with cornette/rnr express as the main event all the time
dirty white boy/eddie gilbert vs lawler/dundee in 1990 and dirty white boy vs tom pritchard in 1991
the shane douglas vs tommy dreamer stuff in 1996 was the mid card feud around that time with the mixed tags
brian christopher vs jeff jarrett in 1993 was a good run for a while
repo man vs macho on the first couple episodes of raw, only lasted two weeks, but they had a reason for having the match and were mad at each other, instead of here's a match for no reason.
The whole "sunny jumping from team to team" with the tag title for 1996 carried the whole tag division for a year and was a story and characters to follow along with
I liked the sable/luna feud in early 1998, because they were actually mad at each other, and just wanted to get in the ring and fight each other, they weren't worried about showing the audience "what great athletes we are!" like they do now
macho vs dusty kingdom of the madness vs the common man 1990 was midcard under hulk/warrior/perfect, a great non-title feud
I'll probably think of more later on, good topic
