I'd love to see #SauceHearts or Ace/Bey win it, but those teams feature guys from other companies, so it's probably less likely. Not exactly hyped for Lio or BUSHI in a title match at the Dome, personally.

Some big news dropping later today – All Japan is holding a press conference, and it sounds like it will be to announce Jake Lee and others will be leaving the promotion at the end of the year.
This is potentially big for New Japan, as Lee was publicly courted by both Tana and ZSJ, and there was a rumor that he was set for the G1 before AJPW shut it down for whatever reason. Anywhere Lee ends up gets a boost, but him walking into New Year Dash with a faction would be a big way to start 2023.

If this is another exodus, I'm not sure All Japan will survive.

Here's how The Junior Teams can advance.
Catch 2/2: Win
Bey/Austin: Win and either Sauce Hearts or Yoh/Rush lose
Yoh/Rush: Win
Titan/Bushi: Win and Bey/Austin or Sauce Hearts lose
Sauce Hearts: Win and Yoh/Rush loses

I figured Lee was on his way out after losing the Triple Crown to Suwama and being blocked from the G1. The others leaving are Tajiri and Izanagi. For those not in the know, Tajiri has been the one booking All Japan for some time. Izanagi is talented but, he never really fit.

I’m sure they aren’t winning the tournament but It’s pretty awesome that Austin and Bey are in the main event of the last night. They need to get them regularly on the Strong tapings.

For those wondering, the likely replacement for Tajiri as head booker for All Japan is Shuji Ishikawa. At least, I hope so. The other choice is Suwama. A man who has spent the past year of his on-going midlife crisis:
1. Dying his hair red.
2. Reforming Voodoo Murders(who sucked during their first run and suck even worse now.)
3. Refusing to put anyone not named Kento Miyahara over.

As good as the tournament has been, it just feels like this is going to be a duo of Rush/YOH and Catch 2-2 matches. With Rush and YOH winning the finals and the titles. Which is fine because I like both guys but, I feel like you can still get a lot more mileage out of Catch 2-2 as defending champions than is possible for Rush and YOH.

I also feel as though that the heavyweight tournament is hurt by the fact that it seems Aussie Open are inevitable as the winners.

Yeah, and while I’m sure the rematch with FTR will be good, I would’ve liked to see a longer-standing or native team in that spot. We had a good run of tag champs for a bit between Tekkers, Bishamon, LIJ and UE, but we might be headed back to the foreign teams hogging the belts.

Could return for a full-time role in BJW, finally having a go at the Cyberfight side of things, ZERO1 if he feels low enough, etc.
