I just don’t think Cody has it. Roman hitting 1000 days is a bigger deal than Cody winning. Cody winning is the end of the story for him, so there’s no upside. It's not the end of the story though, you have the question of can Cody hold onto the title and build a legacy. There are plenty of stories to be told with Cody winning the title, and The Bloodline exploding can be told without Roman holding the title. The upside of Cody winning the title is that you have a red hot babyface holding the top prize, and then we come to the downside of Cody losing, which is another face failing to get the job done and him cooling off after bottling it when the chips are down. Roman has held the title for almost a thousand days and beaten everyone, he wouldn't be hurt in the slightest by losing, and he is a heel. Dude is meant to lose at 'mania. But Cody? If he chokes, then that is going to hurt him and it could be a long time before he gets as hot as he is right now. Just look at Drew McIntyre after Clash at the Castle.
Quite simply, Roman doesn't need to win, Cody does.

The only heels left are the Bloodline. Cody has no one to face. The Bloodline has to tear themselves asunder. I know Cody is likely to win, but he's going to be left like Warrior was, the champion, with no one to face. He took down the top guy....now what? Everyone else is a distant 4th place. The Bloodline tearing down Roman and taking him out is the story. The Mega-Powers exploded, they didn't just limp away.

Cody can face Reigns in a rematch at MitB, and you can build up the next opponent for Cody in the meantime.

The next part of the Bloodline’s story — their inevitable implosion — can’t begin in earnest if Roman wins at Mania.

I'm still confident Cody will do it but I know watching this match live I'm going to be very nervous with the false-finishes towards the end because you just never know. The only times during this run I thought Roman even might lose was to Edge at WM 37 or Drew at CATC. Even with those I only gave it like a 25% chance. Here I'm like 80% sure the time has arrived and Cody is winning and I really hope it's the case. I'm not even a massive Cody fan but his return has been great so far and with the reactions he's getting and the tickets/merch he's selling surely they don't screw this up. Roman hitting 1000 days is a bigger deal than Cody winning. I really don't get this at all. Cody winning will be a huge triumphant babyface moment and send everyone home happy. Roman winning will probably deflate the crowd and leave a sour taste of Wrestlemania even if the rest of the weekend was great. You could get away with Roman winning the 2021 and 2022 main events as he was obviously earlier into his heel run and was facing long-time veterans who already had dozens of world titles between them in Edge/Bryan/Brock. Their careers couldn't be made or broken by a win or loss on any stage. Cody is not in that position though. This is the biggest moment of his career and it'll be almost impossible to reach this level again if he chokes here. He needs to win now and the timing is perfect. Roman getting to 1000 days is just a line to repeat in Roman/Heyman promos or a cool number to look at on Wikipedia lists. I don't get the fascination with it and why it's so important to risk squandering a new full-time top star.

I entered the Rumble at 30 and won. Now I win at Mania" trope. Cody's winning, I know this. I just think it's the totally wrong decision.

I was hoping this was the Roman Reigns Wagner thread, where we talk about his inevitable loss to Von Wagner. Aquaman vs Captain Caveman

It’s probably the closest we’ll ever get to seeing a reign that long in a post-80s era. Having said that, I think it’s Cody’s time and I’m more confident about that than I was with Drew at Clash at the Castle.

I just want to reiterate that I really want Roman to lose. The dude sucks most of the joy right out of the WWE for me.
But I think he'll win because Saturday Night WM was too perfect. I have zero faith the WWE won't end Sunday WM with a total company killing stinker result. Roman wins. He shouldn't. But he will. Because life isn't fair. We are made to suffer. They want to sell the company with the "bestest longest biggest dongest champion ever" intact no matter how much it sucks.

Against. Trips has a bigger boner for long heel runs than Vince ever did, and I can see them trying to blag this further still. Oh f***ing hell
