This has to be one of the worst PPV concepts of all time. 60 men, with a large number of them having no chance and some being outright jobbers. Three Picture in Picture frames where it’s impossible to follow anything. Three different sets of announcers. Most of the guys just standing around in the ring. What a shit show.
Discuss great and not so great moments in WCW World War 3 history.

It could maybe have worked if they had staggered entrances like the Royal Rumble but they obviously didn't want to be seen as ripping off their competitor.
It didn't even have to be one person enters every minute or whatever. Even like 3 groups of 20 people could work. 20 start. 10 minutes later the next 20 enter. Then 10 minutes later the final 20 enter. The rings wouldn't be so packed as there would obviously be a bunch of eliminations before the last group came in.
Having 60 people out there at a time was just an absolute nightmare. It's telling that you never hear people talking about specific spots or moments from these matches because pretty much nothing interesting ever happened.

The Giant was suppose to eliminate Hulk Hogan but, Hulk called an audible and had Giant pull him under the bottom. And then after Savage wins you have Hulk bitching and crying, totally ruining Savage's victory.
That really made me hate Hogan in WCW.

In all fairness, this was one of the rare times where Hogan's temper tantrums were justified.

As far as I know, it was just part of Hogan's storyline for the next month where he became more and more unhinged, leading to his "suspension" to explain him not being on Starrcade.

I thought the 1996 one was pretty good, but even that was mainly due to the last 15 minutes of the match.

It's both hilarious and sad to me that Savage was hardly ever near a world title without Hogan being involved. 1988 - No real problem with this one as it was a great storyline but Savage's whole reign was spent with Hogan by his side or in the end as rivals. 1992 - His only reign with no Hogan involvement (because Hogan was "retired" at the time). 1995 - Savage wins the title but like you said Hogan is screwed over and it's made to look like he deserved to win. 1996 - Hogan helps Savage win the title back then celebrates like he won the title himself like it's Wrestlemania 4 all over again. 1998 - Savage wins the title then drops it to Hogan the next night. 1999 - Savage wins the title then drops it to Hogan the next night. 2004/05 - Savage was rumored to feud with Jeff Jarrett over the TNA title but gets into an altercation with Hogan backstage and leaves the company.

I unironically love WW3 because it is the biggest clusteriest battle Royale available. Who could forget the NWO spending the entire match in the corner, only beating up Disco Inferno, but not eliminated? Or the Faces of Fear curb stomping Lee Marshall?

I can't remember but, I've heard that story a few times. But, even if it was part of the story it still made Hogan look like a crybaby and ruined Savage's win.

The biggest problem with WW3 was the way they shot it in a split screen. They traded only being able to see what was happening on one place for not being able to see what was happening in any place. Would have been better had they just jumped around and somehow timed it so that the key eliminations only happened when the cameras were focused on that particular ring.
Also, in '96 they kept the screen split 3 ways long after the final 20 participants merged into one ring. Just a mess.
Otherwise, it's a guilty pleasure.

Somehow I don't remember either of these things. I'm guessing they must've been during the 1996 one where we had to watch almost the entire match in those stupid three small boxes.

Thankfully this is not a HHH favorite, otherwise, come january we would get Royal Rumble: World War 3.

It's under Royal Rumble rules but except it's going to be in a steel cage. After about 12 hours it comes down to Cody and Solo Sikoa with the two then climbing to the top of the cage for no reason and Cody knocking him off after several bionic elbows to win.

The first show did give us a Joshi Classic in Bull Nakano and Akira Hokuto vs Cutie Suzuki and Mayumi Ozaki.

Rey kicked out of all manner of crazy moves so no clue how it would be received if it happened with two young guys today. lol off the top of my head he took a tombstone on the outside, a bunch of Powerbomb/Liger Bomb variations, and a dragon suplex.

As someone who unironically loves matches that are a complete clusterpharell, I always kind of dug it, even if it wasn't particularly good.

In all fairness, this was one of the rare times where Hogan's temper tantrums were justified. He justified it himself by rebooking his own elimination in the match to not happen, it was one of his most brazen political plays ever Where has this been confirmed? Also if Giant was eliminating Hogan then who was going to eliminate Giant? Sting and Luger both went out in a heap with the Giant so it couldn't have been them. After you take out Hogan and those two then the only guys still left in the match were Savage and the One Man Gang. Obviously One Man Gang wasn't going to take him out and them booking Savage to take him out by himself seems far fetched to me.
