That’s nice Still looking forward to it and still most likely going to like it
Oh, I'm still seeing it too. They could ditch the whole thing and just do a sequel to the remake, and I'd still go see it. But then I love me some Ghostbusters.

Just saw it, loved it.
If you’re not a big Ghostbusters fan, it’s not a great film, but if you are, it’s perfect.

There are like 15 characters running around this movie. A far too serious tone, again. I don’t know nostalgia has to mean sweeping sentimentality about a movie where Dan Aykroyd gets a ghost blowjob…but at least the tribute to Ramis allowed it to make some sense in Afterlife. Frozen Empire sprinkles some fun nostalgia in…but it’s a respite from overly serious tedium.

Ghostbusters in my "Star Wars".
I really enjoyed it. I have a few minor complaints, sometimes I wondered if they forgot the original Ghostbusters was a comedy. Kumail Nanjiani was the best part of the film, but he felt like he was in a completely different movie.
A lot of world-building which affected the overall pace, really could have a used mid-movie ghost battle. I thought overall they juggled the 100 characters well, never did I feel people were just standing around, like in the last Jurassic World movie. A lot of amusing jokes and references to originals without feeling pandering.
If you like Ghostbusters you will enjoy this, if you are indifferent about Ghostbusters this might not be worth your time, if you're a part of the Ghostbusters fandom and are having a meltdown on Reddit. Just remember it's just a movie and even Ghostbusters 2 wasn't great, it was just the first film you saw on VHS.

I don’t really get the if you enjoy Ghostbusters you’ll enjoy this stuff. This feels nothing like Ghostbusters…just like the last one didn’t. Saccharine nostalgia isn’t Ghostbusters. A sex pest trying to break a woman’s will while a nerd deadpans everything in the background is. I know that these new filmmakers have seen Ghostbusters. But i feel like they are confusing it with a drama or something. I love Ghostbusters. What I don’t love is hearing the Ghostbusters score set over a poorly written family drama that has to get a dozen other characters on screen too. Outside of a couple of conversations between Winston and Ray…even the legacy parts don’t feel relevant to Ghostbusters.

Honestly really enjoyed it, even more so than the last one. Had some good jokes and nice to return to New York. Also, did the one playing Podcast go through a dramatic growth spurt?

I haven't paid attention to the new Ghostbusters movies at all, but that's mostly because their choice of marketing rings hollow to me. Watching a nostalgia callback only makes me unfairly compare it to the original, and when I'm watching a movie, that's never a good thing. Is it kind of weird that Ghostbusters has become a family film, even though the original film wasn't... although this is nothing new, this probably goes back to the second movie. But this just looks like some kind of Avengers style family adventure movie with ghosts. Just a very weird departure from where we started. And after looking this up, I saw that Reitman is directing a Saturday Night Live movie called SNL 1975. Really? Does EVERY story need to have a movie now? And does the name mean we're going to get an SNL 1976 movie after that? Gotta keep those sequels coming!

One issue I had {Spoiler}Why is the mom such an uninterested bitch to her kids for the first half of the film? The scene where she's literally on the couch looking at her phone and telling her son he's an adult now. What was that? I felt like there was something missing that made her act that way.

I felt like there was something missing that made her act that way. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} The family dynamic was all over the place. The daughter was incredibly rude to her mom because she wasn't a "good ghostbuster" because the mom doesnt like science. The son had an "I'm an adult now" arc that seemingly went nowhere. One minute the daughter was grounded for life next minute she was being babied because she had almost died. All of this stuff was dropped once they got to the climax. It was really a mess of a film.

This IMO is a movie that tries to pleases everyone and yet ends up pleasing no one.
the best thing about the original is how earnest it was it was a comedy that took itself seriously and this was the extreme opposite.

My only nip pick here. {Spoiler}It seems was defeated way to easily and quickly. We needed of the villain and his army running rough shot over all of New York city.

How I described it to a friend: it’s never going to win Best Picture, but it made me feel like a kid watching Saturday morning cartoons and I was grinning like an idiot the entire time, so mission well accomplished IMO.

One other slight negative about the film, there’s no soundtrack, as much I loved all the music drops in the originals. There’s no musical moments in this one.

I enjoyed it but i liked Afterlife more. The new characters are fun but it could've used more time with them this time round. It was nice to see more of the original cast too but Bill Murray felt more like a cameo and there were some moments with him that felt unscripted. I'm sure this one will do well and a third film will happen and i'd gladly see it.

BILL MURRAY
Very "yells at cloud" critiques but quite funny

Saw it earlier today. Does anybody else think {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} It would have been a much better movie if it was just a two-person buddy adventure with Phoebe trying to help Melody resolve whatever it is that's stopping her from moving on? Granted it lowers the stakes a lot, but the two girls had really good chemistry together and everything else in the movie just felt like extraneous padding with unnecessary characters.

I’m an absolute Ghostbusters nut, like several levels beyond what you would imagine from that statement.
As much as I enjoyed it, I can’t help but wonder if it would have been better received as a season-long streaming series. There was a lot of stuff that could have been explored further.
