So 2022 is done. How did AEW do in your eyes?

Really difficult to grade. So many issues were beyond reasonable control and others sounded fine on paper (eg Rosa's title reign) so can't grade too harshly. That said other things like tnt title picture being a disaster until the last few weeks and too much bloat were more manageable.
There was also a lot of great stuff, Punk Vs MJF, Forbidden Door, best of 7, Takeshita and the rise of The Acclaimed to name just a few.
Most of all it may have been their worst year and disappointing by their standards but that's still a high bar. If this is a bad year we're lucky, there's at least one great match a week. Just unsatisfying on a longer timescale with stories unfinished and people disappearing.
C, I suppose.

Over all a entertaining product that is still young and has room for improvement in several areas.
All of these in-school suspensions are concerning, and I'm afraid if this pattern of behavior continues it will one day disqualify them from all but the hottest and noisiest jobs.

A lot of ups, a lot of downs. A lot of issues, but a lot of high points. Maybe my thoughts are being swayed by the very recent product being better than mid-year, but I’d go with a B-.

I think if you judged them based on the TV product it’s in the B to B+ range. I will admit it definitely wasn’t as good as 2020/2021 because that was the best wrestling on TV I’ve ever seen. So they did slip a little bit, but it’s definitely picking up again and they have positive momentum for 2023 to be another great year creatively.
But the backstage drama really did hurt them this year. That sort of love fest feeling they had the first three years, where everyone seems like a utopia on the service, well that feeling was killed this year, and that’s what kind of hurt my enjoyment of the show, and I had to back away from AEW for a little bit. But it was bound to happen, and that’s okay. You never want situations like Punk vs The Elite to happen and you certainly don’t like it when wrestlers you like are not happy on their spots. But it was going to happen. AEW has had its fair share of problems backstage, like every single wrestling company that ever existed. But they haven’t burned down yet, and it’s all a learning a experience for a still young company. If WWE can survive their mountain of backstage bullshit then AEW certainly can.
That said, I’m very positive that 2023 will be a great year.

B+ as all the PPVs delivered and some were all timers and Dynamite by and large was a fantastic show all year. Rampage had ups and downs and some of the long term stories weren't there plus you had some clunkers on and off screen but by and large, it was a pretty good year.

B+
It's still been a very good year for AEW, IMO. The PPV and TV shows have largely been fun, we're ending the year with talent like the Acclaimed and Jamie Hayter mega over and holding belts, and there are things in place for 2023.
It's just not been as good a year as previous ones for the company. Things did go wrong but I think AEW is finishing the year in a good position and has largely recovered from some of the problems it had.

B. The All Out Media Scrum, the injuries, and backstage drama did bring my enjoyment of AEW down from previous years, but luckily things have picked up since then.
Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter as champions was well-received by the fanbase, as was The Acclaimed getting heavily pushed this year. Swerve Strickland is looking to make a huge impact in 2023, and is proving to be a tremendous signing with how good he is whether as a face or a heel.

B. Still consistently very good wrestling TV. But they ended 2021 with SO MUCH momentum, it really feels like they took a bit of a step back this year, though I'm sure Punk and injuries derailed so many plans. Hopefully they come back stronger in 2023.

Between a B and B+. The product wasn't as consistent as last year's for a number of reasons. But generally speaking, the product has still been really enjoyable.

I think B+ is fair, they had some highlights (Punk/MJF Feud, the Forbidden Door PPV) and some lowlights (injuries and Scrumgate).
Hopefully 2023 is better for AEW.

an AEW C is more like a B or B+ elsewhere but they can do way better than they did for the majority of the year

C an AEW C is more like a B or B+ elsewhere but they can do way better than they did for the majority of the year I always found funny how those kind of ratings in any genre changed based on set standards (not saying you are wrong in doing so) I first noticed it in wrestling with Zayne. He would say " this raw was 2 hours boring but had 2 great matchs, B" " Dynamite was really good overall but x segment fell flat B+"

Yeah, C. Just a deeply frustrating, amateur-hour production that happens to feature astoundingly talented people.
