If anyone is interested, Meltzer gave the Tag and IC title matches 5 stars. Charlotte and Rhea got 4 3/4 which I’m sure many will disagree with. First Mania with two 5 star matches and first since Hart/Austin at Mania 13.

The tag match was still really good and had an electric crowd in the second half, but it got quite spammy on the superkicks and finishers, like Sami's gratuitous triple-Helluva Kick ending. Rhea/Charlotte had a super-invested crowd despite getting far less attention in the build (plus a difficult spot following the heated Rey/Dom match) and had masterful storytelling as well as its intensity and physicality.

It was an easy 5 star match if Cody won. The pacing was so good and the crowd was electric for everything in a way only a few Mania main events have reached.

I put zero stock in some guy's made up ratings, but I'm baffled how someone could think the tag match was better than Charlotte/Rhea.

I suspect the story behind the tag match plays a role in the rating. Rhea/Charlotte was a great match but a lot of the build was done ourselves in remembering their first WM encounter. With the tag match you were getting the culmination of months of storyline. That said, they really overdid it with the superkicks.

It's kind of a shame the finish to Cody/Roman is likely to overshadow just about everything else on this show because there was a lot of good stuff on the card this year, especially night 1.

When I found out the finish to Cody/Roman, I lost all interest in watching night 2. I still haven't bothered. Meanwhile, I had a blast with night 1. Sometimes the destination is just as or more important than the journey.

So with the issue that was locked elsewhere on the board... are we not going to be able to see Dom's entrance anymore?

So with the issue that was locked elsewhere on the board... are we not going to be able to see Dom's entrance anymore? It wasn't the entrance itself, but the promo package. They spotted the issue after it was shown on the kickoff and it was sorted before it was on the main show, so I don't see why there'd be a problem. It's still on the Network and if it was going anywhere, it'd been gone by now.

I called it a week ago and I was really looking forward to being proven wrong, but goddamn Meltzer just couldn’t help himself. This is yet another reason why I don’t take his star ratings seriously. They stole the show at WM36 and they’ve arguably stolen the show at 39. Love it. Also, Meltzer said it was one of the best women’s matches in WWE history. Can’t wait for that 4.75.

So meltzer didn’t give rhea and Charlotte 5 stars. If that doesn’t warrant 5 stars then what does ?

Fun fact: Meltzer never reviewed their WM 36 match in the first place.
