That was a great match last night between them as Mone proved the second guessers wrong.
Looking forward to her next matches against other Stardom talent and whomever she faces next.

I liked the story of Mercedes starting out humbled to be there, and then slowly becoming more heelish.
Her half insincere look of concern/half smirk after the ref bump was so awesome.

Any hesitation I had about Mercedes being there went away instantly with her Hana Kimura -inspired gear.

The match although started off klunky and slow got much better once they started moving at a faster pace and KAIRI was allowed to get in her offence.
With that said this is what I was always looking at as the comfort match for SASHA..she was in there with someone who she has worked with before and made things much easier for her.
So while she was great here IMO the real test is that STARDOM show in april and who she gets put against.
And I know everyone is giving their flowers to Sasha...more respect should be given to KAIRI who bumped her damn ass off for Sasha for what felt like 80% of this match...that bump she took off the elbow counter was freaking madness it feels like a miracle her shoulder did not pop out.

Kairi wasn’t going from a nine month layoff into a main event level match. It’s ok to think Mercedes did very well without taking anything away from her

Great match
I am interested to see how Mercedes does with a talent she isn't familiar with. She passed the first test and now on to see what the next one will look like

Was anyone doubting that the match would be good? People have been questioning her decision to go to NJPW from a career standpoint, not because they think the matches will suck.

I will say that Mone has a top 5 shittiest theme song in wrestling right now because holy shit what was that ear bleed of a so called "theme"
I would have thought considering how big a fan she is that she would get something more J-rock or K-pop sounding.
Everything else is fine but that ear bleed of a song needs to go into the Ambrose trash pile.

I think that people had wondered how she'd be outside of WWE's environment, where she's been the vast majority of her career, plus possible ring rust. So, yeah, there were a lot of people who thought she'd underwhelm, albeit not outright suck. She honestly picked a good time to leave, both between the unique position she's in and WWE's women's uppercard being chock-full, but yeah, it's still always a risk to walk away from a guaranteed feature spot.

Great, great match. My one complaint is that Mercedes was working over KAIRI's left arm, and the announcers were selling it as "that's the arm she uses for the Insane Elbow and the Cutlass!" even though she uses her right arm for both moves. But that's a minor quibble, all things considered.
Boggles my mind how badly WWE used both women (KAIRI much more so, admittedly).

I think that KAIRI did well for herself, but there's no doubt that they still could have used her better. I liked the team with Asuka, that really worked out, but it still annoys me how often they kept throwing her into dangerous situations. Like, after seeing how reckless Charlotte and Nia Jax were being with her, maybe stop booking that?

Kairi was used well and I can never get down with Sasha Banks being used badly in WWE when she was basically given every accolade you can be given

KAIRI IMO was not used to her potentional untill the very end when she had those final matches with Sasha and Bayley and you got to see KAIRI allowed show what she could really do.
And that NXT title reign was such a disrespect to her IMO .she has that spectacular match in brooklyn only to drop it back to Shayna like some 71 days later and thus never getting that Io feud that was on the cusp of happening.

At least that was appropriate for the characters.

We’ve come full FAN circle! It was truly shitty of them to bury her (and Naomi) on the night they walked out but Sasha won lots of titles, made lots of money and she didn’t get that episode of The Mandalorian because she’s the next Meryl Streep. She did really well in WWE, all told.

Very good match. Agreed with the above point that the big test now opens up for Mercedes, as she gets to work with people she's not as familiar with, but she didn't look out of place at all, and Kairi is just great, some of those counters by the end were sensational.
Sounds like the next IWGP Women's title match will be Mercedes against AZM at Sakura Genesis, so a little over a month from now, where Okada will be defending the IWGP World title against the New Japan Cup winner.

Damn forgot about this. How was the match itself? I thought that there would have been more buzz about it as hype as it was when she showed up the first time.

Watched it tonight on AXS. Kairi vs Mercedes was as great as advertised. Damn. They put on an absolute clinic.

I really really hope we get Mone vs Tam before Mone's contract is up. Thats the matchup I'm most interested in seeing of the major options.
