Masha (and to a lesser extent Kelly)’s biggest issue with getting the title is that outside of Deonna they really don’t rocket people to the titles very often. They establish you for like two years and then they’ll give you a run in the last year of your deal. It’s not like in stone or anything…but it feels like that’s the pattern Masha is bizarre because they spent all that time building her as this monster. And then she lost 3 straight title matches in short order? Frankly GCW is booking her like Impact SHOULD have imo. It just kind of feels like it’s been Deonna, Jordynne, and Mickie dominating the title picture for a long time now. I didn’t have a problem with her losing to Jordynne because she’d run through everyone else so what was there to do if she won the belt. But they shouldn’t have done the immediate rematch. They should have waited. Getting rolled up by Mickie was whatever. The iron wasn’t as hot anymore.

It sucks Mickie got hurt…but these two genuinely feel like the cream of the crop right now fighting for the belt. I think Jordynne has kind of ran her course a bit in all honesty. Haven't really been interested in her work since she won the Digital Media title. Still great in the ring but feels more like spinning tires creatively A heel turn is probably what’s needed to refresh Jordynne. They obviously didn’t pull the trigger tonight, but could be something they do at the tapings tomorrow.

Fightful says they’re not sure if Jordynne has a contract right now. They think it was up in March and haven’t heard she signed a new one.

Not a bad show, gonna give it 7 Mike Bailey mullets out of 10.
I don't follow weekly, hell this is my second PPV in a row in literal years, and some of it just didn't click with me.
Ultimate X Match was great. I've always liked MCMG, and ABC just work REALLY well together. They're very good representatives for Bullet Club, and would fit in with BC Gold perfectly if they wanted to. Glad they retained.
The Design vs. Buncha Dudes was alright. Santino dragged the match down for me, and I think the cobra was, and still is, f***ing stupid. But it was nice that he was able to wrestle in front of his son, and pick up the win, so that was alright. Holy hell does Callihan look awful. Never thought I'd buy Cody Deaner in his current incarnation, but damn he does a pretty good job. And HI FIVE! Dango not being able to clap to the beat of his song made me die laughing. There was so much cringe on the Buncha Dudes side. I'm still not sure if I like Joe Hendry, but I have his goddam song stuck in my head *clap clap*
Last Rites Match. You know what? Not bad. PCO has no business being so good for his age. I'm glad he's doing an updated version of his gimmick, and the makeup looked pretty damn good. The superkick to Alicia was my favorite part b/c I don't like her either. I stopped watching shortly after she debuted, and they tried to make her a thing in Impact. So it's been awhile. Edward Edwards finally has a decent look for himself, but god his theme music sucks balls.
Trey vs. Gresham vs. Bailey was fantastic as I expected. Tied for my match of the night with the main event. Bailey's music and entrance gear aren't very good. But his actual ring gear is. Gresham's chops are really really bad. I think I might have a crush on Trey Miguel. I'm glad he won.
The Tommy Dreamer Can f*** Off Forever match was the low point for me. It was cool seeing Killer Kelly, and Masha, as I'd never seen the latter's work before. I'm glad they were treated equally, and were important to the match. Can Bully Ray PLEASE MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE. f***s sake. Dreamer is like the QT Marshall of Impact to me. Everything he's around loses its shine.
Maclin vs. KUSHIDA was alright. I'm not invested in Maclin at all as I saw zero percent of his rise to the title. So he doesn't come off like a champion to me. Nothing about him screams "ooh I gotta watch this guy" and that hasn't changed between this and the last PPV I watched. But found out earlier he was in the Forgotten Sons and that blew my mind. Decent match, but I had zero investment in it. Nick Aldis is back. Yay?
Purazzo vs. Grace was very, very good. They have great chemistry. I wrote in my notes that Jordynne should move over to the men's roster, and I see others echoed that sentiment. I wasn't invested in it as a title match, but I'm a fan of both women, so I was totally into it as a wrestling match. Crazy when I watched last Grace was still "Thicc Momma Pump" good on her for reinventing herself, she looks goddam amazing.
Overall a decent watch. Couple of low points, I still absolutely hate Matt Rewholdt (sp?) on commentary, and that will never change. But Tom makes it worth the annoyance, he's so good.
And the crowd seemed "eh" for most of it. I was really excited to see the venue given the hype, but it didn't live up to it. Reminded me of that venue they ran for BFG 2018. For being sold out it didn't look, feel, or sound like it.
But I don't regret watching. Was a solid way to spend 3 hours.

It was developed in parallel to Alexander’s rise to the title and dominant reign so not culminating in that showdown due to injury was unfortunate…but they can just pivot back to it when Josh is back and have a rich backstory to draw from and an even more established Maclin. Maclin came in and did the jobber squashes for a while…slowly adding stuff to his repertoire. Then he rode his winning streak to a big X title match with Trey that he lost. From there they started the long storyline of him beating former world champions and somehow always getting screwed out of getting a title match. Alexander kept accepting challenges from people Maclin had beaten like Swann…or Kazarian would cash in Option C and get one…or Impact would run some multiman #1 contender match that he wouldn’t lose…but wouldn’t win. Once they crowned a #1 contender by having only former champions eligible for a #1 contender match. A bunch of guys Maclin had beaten and he was sitting on the outside. He finally got a chance to become #1 contender at Rebellion after a long wait. What made it work so well was that we’ve known he’s the deserving challenger for like…6 months. At least. He goes out and beats everyone and somehow never got a shot. It was a great way to get him over. Every title match he wasn’t in…matches where there was no doubt Alexander would retain…you were thinking about Maclin. Maclin could beat him. Maclin would interrupt all of Josh’s promos to remind him that he could beat him and would when he got his shot. I have no doubt Maclin was winning this title if Josh didn’t get hurt. They built it too strong for too long. In a way that you make main eventers…not cut their legs off. Now they’ll have to get to the match a different way down the road. But the Maclin build was perfect.

I know Sami was injured for awhile but man, he looks more Walking Dead than Death Machine right now. What happened?

I wonder who Maclin’s first challenger will be. PCO might be a good Impact plus show challenger. He’s coming off a feud ending win and crowds love him. It would be funny if ALDIs got a shot right away though. After making Maclin jump through hoops for a year…his first challenger is just handed one. That’s a good story, actually.

My only real complaint with their booking is that Trey feels cold as X champion. I don’t know what their going to do…he’s run through the division it feels like three times. He’s great and the matches are fun so it’s a minor complaint…but it really feels like they need to bring someone in and beat him as a surprise or something. Because I can’t see an endgame anywhere.

I think Aldis will be Maclin’s challenger at Slammiversary, which means you’d have two Impact+ shows for Maclin to have matches with before doing the Aldis match.
