I honestly think at when you look at who’s the total package - extremely memorable look, great character and mannerisms (can someone do an instantly recognizable impression of them?), talent as a worker, influence on the business, etc. - Randy Savage just barely edges out Ric Flair.

Well here in Canada we think Iron Mike Sharpe is the greatest wrestler of all time.

For actual wrestling it would ne Bret or Danielson but all things considered it has to be Randy Savage for me. He'd at or near the top of every metric considered

To pick just one would be impossible because there are many many contenders not just in the US but all around the world. Rey Mysterio Jr for me would be right up there because he has been incredible everywhere he has been, a huge influence on the whole industry,a big draw, an iconic look and his whole story makes him for me one of the best of all time, he or Macho Man because they have everything. Bull Nakano or Manami Toyota for the women and even then theres plenty of incredible women who you could argue would be right up there.

The answer is Brock Lesnar. Good look. Legit wrestling/shooting experience. Decent enough promo. Good pro wrestler. Charismatic. Looks like a beast. Ultra athletic. Huge. You can put Brock in any era from the carnival circuit until now and he’d be the absolute top of the class. Some schlubby carny wrestler standing there waiting when I originally wrote this as George Hackenscmidt but then remembered he was a beast too

The answer, much to the dismay of this board, is Hulk Hogan. He was at the head of two of the biggest boom periods of wrestling for two different companies. He is the icon of mainstream wrestling. 'Macho Man' Randy Savage is a distant second. Ric Flair...a distant third.

Two pages in and no one's said Stevie Richards. For shame, board, for shame.

For me it's Flair.
I saw him in his prime and no one could touch him. He was on another level.
Very close second is Macho Man. I've said before I wonder what a Hogan-less WWF with an actual workhorse as it's top guy would look like.
Yes, yes I know WWF wouldn't have been as mainstream if not for Hogan, but I feel like Randy Savage would still be a massive draw (and easily THE guy) if he wasn't in Hogan's shadow.
