not sure if the angle is gonna turn out like this, but imagine if it turns out MJF was actually being sincere regarding wanting to be Cole's friend, and it's Cole who initiates the betrayal, on the pretense of wanting to get MJF before he could be gotten by him. Could also work in Cole being upset that everyone's cheering MJF even after all his terrible deeds. The end seems so obvious to me that I'll put it in spoiler tags. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}They continue to become genuine friends until Roddy Strong gets jealous and shows MJF the footage of him conspiring with Cole. MJF is heartbroken the one time he's being sincere is all lies, Cole says it became real.
Only trouble is the crowd seem certain to side with MJF and I'm not sure they'll want a double turn.

There are so many cool options for this story and I'm concerned they'll go for the worst one! (MJF betraying Cole fairly soon)

“That’s 4 minutes of my life I’m never getting back”
Schiavone lol.
MJF actually tug on the heartstrings a bit this week my goodness. After banging 4 chicks in the previous segment that was some achievement!

To be fair he did give him the option to turn the cameras off! What a great friend!

The pre-recorded skits are good but good in a bad way. Though I think they've done their job though and should now stick to on show and in match stuff.
If seems obvious they setting us up to care for then as a team, only for MJF to turn on him. But I wonder if that is too obvious and they try something different. Maybe Cole is the one who turns and out smarts MJF

Also kinda wondering if the tag deal is a circuitous means of getting MJF back into Punk’s orbit via FTR. Not the obvious route, but it’s a sign of a decent story that it can go in a few different directions and still be as interesting.

Would be an interesting foil to the usual MJF stuff.

Give MJF ONE PERSON he actually cares about. Make it genuine, Roddy looks like an asshole, and the friendship continues. Everyone wins. Either one turning is just gonna lead to bad writing. We either get Cole back as a heel ALREADY (which, please god no not so soon) or we get same ol' same ol' MJF bullshit. Unless Roddy costs them the final match...but is he siding with MJF then? or with Cole? Or is Cole mad at him for doing it? Or is Roddy going rogue and just being a petty bitch in his shitty little boots? There's so many different ways to go with this one. I hope they stay friends. They won't, but I hope they do. I hope they win the tournament at least, and then that puts them in FTR's......orbit......Oh shit....

The Roddy factor is definitely interesting, the fact that they're showing him as looking a bit jealous gives them the opportunity to do something other than one turning on the other, I hope they take that opportunity tbh because MJF turning on Cole makes Cole look like a moron and wastes the chance they've regained to have Max lean into the face side a bit more that they shelved after he won the title.

MJF doesn't have to go full face but I definitely think it's far more interesting that Max is genuine (or at least trying to be) rather than just having him betray Cole and talking about being the devil etc.
More importantly who goes back into a bar before they've done their zipper back up?

I really want them to win the tournament but lose the title match to Bullet Club and then hug it out afterwards instead of MJF betraying Cole or vice versa. I really do enjoy their dynamic so much.

They don't fall out but end up doing a triple threat at Wembley with CM Punk as the other challenger could work. It's notable they've appeared on both shows since Collision started. Then there's an inbuilt reason for whoever wasn't pinned (you'd assume Punk) to challenge at the ppv the following week. (Also glad Cole mentioned his original plan removing the most obvious conclusion from play)

If it does end with MJF betraying him, it needs to be done in a way where MJF is motivated to do it by his own character flaws, and not just "mwah-haha, I was going to do this all along!"...if he ever does say that, it needs to be him convincing himself after the fact that was the case. Basically, if he does the deed it needs to be something motivated by his own insecurities or other personal shortcomings (e.g. an inability to let anybody get too close to him), as it keeps the narrative open to revisit that later if you do end up wanting to give him any kind of future redemption arc.
They've had a few times over the last year or so where they've been teasing what a babyface MJF would look like, and it sure seems like the crowds are mostly on board with the idea, but the question's going to be when they decide to pull the trigger on that. MJF vs. Cole II could likely move more tickets for All In at this point, or even sell a lot of seats for All Out if they feel All In is in good enough position as it is, and I'm sure they're aware of that, but getting there with MJF as the heel shouldn't just involve Max going into mustache-twirling villainy, it should involve him having something good and having thrown it away because he just can't help himself/can't yet overcome the instinct to push people away. Go with the latter, and you could actually build to a reunion down the road.
...Also, this angle gets five stars simply for "Four more for Daddy" line.
ETA: Y'know, I doubt this'll happen, but if Bullet Club does win the tag belts then I hope that MJF/Cole win the tournament...because if, again, this is going to end with MJF pushing Cole away, having Jay White be the, ahem, catalyst for that would only up his top heel credentials that much more...

The dynamics for a potential MJF/Cole vs. Bullet Club Gold feud, especially at All In would be so much fun and difficult for me to resist wanting to happen.
I’m of the opinion that there isn’t a “wrong” outcome because logically Cole/MJF is still the biggest world title match you can have without involving Page, Omega or Punk but I would be sad to see it end right now.
