SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALL RIGHT FOR FIGHTING... AND VOTING! Another new weekly Poll for AEW Fans as I hopefully can do this most every week, if not, we'll see if I can get some people to fill in some times, Saturday's a more busy day for me, usually, but either way, it's time to see how AEW's second Prime Time two hour show does... it's time to RATE THE COLLISION!
------ 2023
6/17: 7.91 (20% DW)
6/24: 7.92 (16% DW)
7/1: 7.36 (40% DW) 7/7: TBD

9/10.
A much better and more fun show that last week. They totally nailed it in last week.
Great bounce back.

9/10. Almost went with a 10 for the FTR/Bullet Club Gold match alone, but rest of the show was pretty solid, too.

7/10
That was the first Collision I've watched and although the matches were all fine to good, nothing really made me excited. It's a bit of a tough sell for me though because it's full of wrestlers I could not care less about. If you're invested in the wrestlers on the show, I'm sure it works much better.

Honestly, a 10. There is wasn’t anything on the show I didn’t like.
I really hope Ricky brings it home next week, though.

FTR and Bullet Club Gold was AMAZING, I can't wait for the rematch. Hobbs/Starks was decent, and the main event with Joe and FAN's favourite wrestler was also really good. Everything else was fine, I'm waiting for this Andrade/House of Black thing to kick into a higher gear. I enjoyed the show and am looking forward to next week's. 9

Like a 9. Really good, consistent action and good match-ups as well.

The tag match alone made it a 10.

9/10, great show tonight.
I liked Hobbs/Starks, FTR/Bullet Club and CM Punk/Samoa Joe.

8 probably. Really good Owen matches, nice to see Julia Hart ultimately, the tag match was great until it ran out of gas the last few minutes to just being really good, and it still had a nice flow about it. Still don't care about Scorpio Sky at all and his match against Action was a whole bunch of nothing, but such is that slot.

Solid 9 for me.
Loved the main event - hopefully this is the start of the build to a final showdown at Wembley.

Just got around to it and went with a 9 - very strong show. Overall a great string of AEW shows this week.

Second AEW show I'll rate a 10. Easily the best show in a long time, probably in the last year. Everything was either really good or short and inoffensive (basically Julia Hart), and FTR/BGC was... if it wasn't the best tag match I've ever seen, I'm certainly struggling to think of better. Best I've seen in AEW for sure, and I thought it was great Juice got the rub for winning, too. He really has been the Collision MVP thus far.
Also liked that Sky/Andretti was actually quite a good little match, and that Sky was over. Suck it, FAN. If Tony Nese also got a great reaction, it will officially be my new favourite wrestling city.

I don't know by what metric FTR/BCG could be considered AEW's best tag match really, I loved it but wouldn't have it in the same league as Young Bucks vs Hangman and Omega or FTR vs Young Bucks in terms of regular tag matches, the things that made it great, like the false finishes and great spots, were quite easily bettered by the Bucks vs Hanger and Kenny match imo, and I'd be surprised if the 4 of them themselves don't better it next week in the 2 out of 3 falls match.
I'd go for a 9 to round up from the high 8 it felt like for this week, it's the most I've enjoyed Collision so far but the discourse surrounding it is weird, very good episodes get the "amazing show!" treatment while very good stuff that happens is now getting "best match ever and show ever" treatment. I didn't see anything that made it that level, they regularly deliver amazing matches on Dynamite, I'm just not seeing what a great tag match and a main event that was on its way to greatness before being cut short (probably deliberately if they're having a blow off match soon) does to elevate it to being one of AEW's best ever shows, it feels like a bit of a slap in the face to shows they've put on where the ring work has been incredible virtually all night like the LA Dynamite at the start of the year or the one in Detroit just for two recent examples. Glad people are enjoying it as much as they are but parts of the praise feel hyperbolic.

Glad people are enjoying it as much as they are but parts of the praise feel hyperbolic. The metric is that I liked it more. Art is subjective. In fairness, I haven't seen Bucks vs Hangman/Omega, but even if I did agree it was better, being the second best tag match I've seen in a very long time of watching wrestling is still pretty goddamn good. For an AEW show to get a 10 out of me now, with my interest at a MUCH lower ebb than it was a year ago, indicates it was doing something interesting and worthwhile. For me. If it wasn't for you, that's cool. It was my rating, not anyone else's. But I will say there hasn't been a single Dynamite this year I enjoyed remotely as much as this show, most certainly including both Dynamites you mentioned, which I tuned out of large chunks of and would have rated somewhere in the 4-6 range. Different people have different tastes.

Glad people are enjoying it as much as they are but parts of the praise feel hyperbolic. The metric of personal taste is the most powerful and important metric of them all. The majority of us that are praising Collision in these threads also watch and enjoy Dynamite weekly, don't be fooled by bad faith actors trying to draw imaginary battle lines between different segments of the fanbase. I watch Dynamite regularly and I enjoy it pretty much every week. I have enjoyed Collision a little more since it's started mostly because the structure and pacing of the show is closer to the kind of wrestling show that I personally like. I don't think it's a perfect show every week, it just feels less chaotic and overstuffed to me when compared to the average Dynamite episode and that allows a bit more breathing room for me to appreciate the smaller moments. It has nothing to do with the amount of amazing matches and false finishes and so on, it's purely down to the pacing and structure of the show for me. I'd compare it to music: an alternative rock song with a carefully placed guitar solo vs a prog rock song with five guitar solos, two drum solos and a piano break. I'd rather listen to the former and I know there are people who would rather listen to the latter, I understand why and respect that, our tastes are just different.

I went 8.
I still prefer the pacing of Collision to Dynamite but I thought this was the first week Kevin Kelly really got to me. He had no emotion during the Powerhouse Hobbs/QT Marshall stuff which I thought was weird. That should have been treated as a bigger deal than it was on commentary.
Tag match was excellent. Punk/Joe worked a smart match given both guys are in their mid-40s now but it was fun to see it unfold. I hope this is the beginning of a "modern" trilogy that results in a 30 minute Iron Man Match at All Out in Chicago. Could be fun.
As an aside, I really, really like the team of Jay White and Juice Robinson. I think they're the guys who have benefitted most from the new show. This is the perfect direction to give Jay White for now and then eventually you can move him out into the AEW World or International Title divisions.

Dynamite definitely been less stuffed since Collision. Last week especially. I think Collision is helping with that.
I will miss those non stop flat out Dynamites. Where it's feels like you can't relax for a second.
