I don't remember who said it but I saw someone say on Twitter that while AEW was created by The Elite and everything, they're not the heart/soul of AEW, Eddie Kingston is. Something that has stuck with me is in the BTE episode shot around the Brodie Lee tribute show is that Eddie was the one giving the whole locker room a rallying talk pre-show. Every single person was following his lead that night.

This is also why he should be the guy who takes the title off of MJF but that's neither here nor there. As a man rapidly approaching his 40’s, I will shed a tear or 20 if/when Eddie wins the big one. Even if like Mick Foley he only has a short reign only for MJF or someone like Jericho screw him over it’d just make the fan response for Eddie even larger. He doesn't need a long reign at all, the win is the story for Eddie. He could drop it even a month later and it would still be worth it for the payoff of his win.

You could make a strong argument that Eddie losing the title quickly would be more narratively satisfying and just more Eddie. He self sabotages. Seeing him pick himself back up after a short title reign would probably be more interesting than the actual title reign.

Maybe it's because I'm a New Yorker but Eddie is my top dude in wrestling right now. One of the few people that just makes everything feel real and personal and I've known a lot of people like him throughout my life. Hope he gets a run with a top title soon.

And then you see backstage footage of "Uncle Eddie" being a complete softie with the Huber kids when Amanda lets them visit. It's another side of him where in spite of all the shit he's been through, he's great with the kids. Or the videos with Diamante's puppy.

I really do think Kingston is one of the GOAT talkers of his generation, including major league talent. In an industry filled with cornballs, there’s something so raw, so vulnerable about Kingston that makes him stand out. Combine that with his knack for storytelling, he can talk damn near anybody into getting invested in his story.

My dude cut a promo off the dome on a damn COOKIE…a literal cookie…on BTE once and it was better than, like, 95% of the scripted promos on tv that week 😂

He's one of the few that can sell me on something I wasn't that interested in. That early promo with Mox about taking the aew title home to show his mum and say that's the reason she doesn't have grandkids sold me on a match I knew he wouldn't win. There's a lot with good delivery but empty content, others actively detract from things but Eddie stays believable and nearly always makes me more invested.

Eddie vs Paul E in a promo battle is the only thing I want in wrestling more than Dominik & Callis being in the same arena at the same time (as far as things that don’t involve Danhausen go)

I heard that line and it broke me when it was delivered. I know this sounds goofy as hell, but if Eddie ever wants kids I'm glad he's making enough money to have a family now. At least... he better be, if Tony Khan has an ounce of smarts.

Mick Foley's WWF title wins are 3 of the most memorable moments in wrestling history, and he held the belt for 47 days combined.

Probably not safe for work due language and RJ’s underwear, but this is the most Eddie thing you’ll see all day. He’s no idea what RJ is going for, but he’s just happy RJ’s happy. youtu.be/7WOoIw_e6_U

That video just made me love Eddie even more, and also reaffirmed that RJ deserves a big break on AEW as he is hilarious. A heel should bully him and force him into a match only for RJ to perform really well.

Eddie Kingston is the modern day Dusty Rhodes. An MJF/Kingston feud could be huge for both guys.

So, I have a question about him.
I first saw him in TNA managing LAX. I don't think I ever saw him wrestle there (he may have, and I just didn't see it).
Was this during a time where he was injured or working through something? Because seeing what I see now, this dude should have been a top guy at TNA.
