How many kids saw KISS in full make up and costume and thought, "Oooh, this is gonna be some crazy shit" and them heard their music for the first time and were like, "Uhhhhh...." Similar thing,I am 8 or 9 maybe 10. In the record store in teh mall. See the cover to bat out of hell. "HOLY f*** THIS LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!" Buy it,spending at least 3 weeks allowance on it. Get home. Sounds like the crap mom listens to. BITE ME MEATLOAF!!!

that said there is the second verse which in theory could be about heroin usage... but the main bit is about Artis the Spoonman who plays on the album. Yeah, I mean lyrics like "feel the rhythm in your bones" and "all my friends are brown and red" are rather questionable.

I heard all the stories about how dark and insane Ozzy was, then when I first heard his music, it sounded like basic hard rock. Still good, but nowhere near as crazy as people made it out to be (OTOH, Black Sabbath pretty much did live up to their reputation).

My little dumbass swore to all the gods that Cindy Wilson from the B-52’s and Peg from Married With Children were the same woman.

I've always sort of wanted to like Kiss, because yeah, their whole look and "branding" is honestly great, and they're kind of an iconic piece of Americana for a lot of seventies kids.
But I just...don't. And the thing is, I actually like a lot of pretty bubblegum music and Paul Stanley is a big fan of bands like the Raspberries and Big Star, it's just that those bands had great hooks and great pop songs, and I'm not sure Kiss really do.

I wonder how people reacted when Pantera opened Kiss' reunion tour in 1997. Sure there's some fan overlap, but I imagine people there to hear Strutter and Rock N' Roll All Night were caught off guard by F***ing Hostile or Drag The Waters.

I grew up thinking that Bone Thugs-n-Harmony was the artist of choice for the discerning white supremacist. Every bigot that I knew in high school - not an exaggeration - freaking loved them, and I have no idea why. I once had one of those chuds corner me in the lunch room, recite the 14 words then, without a hint of irony, brag that they could sing "Look Into My Eyes."

I would argue that "Rock and Roll All Nite" would qualify, as would "Shout It Out Loud".

I didn't realize they had PMRC labels on those Edison wax cylinders back when you were in school. They started putting them on cassettes when I was 13 or so. LOL Was a few teens trying to see who could get the most albums with the Tipper Sticker on it. I didn't have that many. But most indie labels didn;t bother with the PMRC.

Michael Jackson's vitiligo wasn't common knowledge until he did an Oprah interview well into the 1990s and he was secretive about his plastic surgeries so his dramatically changing appearance was probably the biggest head-scratcher for 80s elementary school kids who were just getting into pop music.

My little dumbass swore to all the gods that Cindy Wilson from the B-52’s and Peg from Married With Children were the same woman. That's understandable. This makes me love the idea of Cindy guest-starring on Married With Children as Peggy's younger cousin. That would've been awesome!

When I first heard Elvis Presley's "Return To Sender": as a kid at a Chuck E. Cheese (being "sung" by a 7 foot tall animatronic lion) I misheard / misunderstood the lyrics as "Return Dasenda". What's a "Desenda" you might ask? I have no idea, and I didn't know then, either! I certainly had no idea what the "Return To Sender" mark meant on an envelope. I remember thinking "This song is catchy but I don't get what that one word means...".

Ok I was 9 or 10 when I first heard this song so it counts.
In Bullet by the Misfits, there is a line that until maybe 5 years ago I swore Glenn sang "Corn Feeder Lasso". Know what a corn feeder is,know what a lasso is. But was always puzzled.
Years back look up the lyrics it is "Let my *** be your life source."

Also, I assumed that bands/musicians recorded their music in other languages for release in other countries. GOAT comment 😄
