Jimmy ran in on a Roman vs. Jey match three years ago and immediately got choked out so quickly and thoroughly that Jey had to submit to save his life and then agreed to become Roman's butler for three years. And ever since then, they've been doing this same thing, over and over. One of the Usos gets conflicted and vanishes for a few weeks and I guess none of them (who are family) talk to each other between shows so their loyalty is in question, and then ultimately they each agree to become Roman's butler again.
The point in the match where they had already taken out and set up a table at ringside, only for Roman to walk directly next to that table...and go under the ring and triumphantly pull out a second table to set it up for a different spot felt like a metaphor.
And man, the match itself really exposed how high they've gotten on their own supply. They've fallen so in love with the praise from the "this is cinema!" people and think Jey grabbing his face every week to show conflicted for three years and Roman squinting his eyes was True Art leading to this total dud of a match where Roman just keeps pacing around making faces to the audience after every spot.
There have been great, great highs to this whole run - Roman's gift for quiet, menaicing trash talk in the pandemic days was a revelation and reminder of why he was the breakout guy from The Shield in the first place, Jey has shown how good he is in big matches, the Sami stuff was tremendous fun, the Usos kicking Roman was great. But that all could have happened in a year. Jey was beating Danielson and established as a main event guy the week after the Cell match where he had to give in. We've gotten multiple finishes of an Uso in disguise for no reason running in to ruin a match. There has to have been, what, six or seven cycles of an Uso's loyalty being in question only to have it lead to no consequences. Like, come on already.

Roman defends the title even less these days for some reason, so my guess is we get Jimmy vs Jey at the next PLE. If Jimmy keeps seperate from the others, they could even do a triple threat and/or fatal four way with Roman and Solo at some point. It's because Roman has become a part-timer now. He mentioned it in an interview last year. The reason being he wants to prioritize family. I knew he became a part timer, but he could still defend more often than this.

It'll be interesting to see if fans buy them as opponents. A lot of the time long-time tag teams end up not working well as opponents. Jeff v Matt, Edge v Christian, Rick v Scott, Bubba v D-Von, none of their matches against each other really lived up to expectations. I'm not sure it'll happen because I expect at least one of Seth or Gunther in the Mania world title match but I'd love for KO to eventually turn on Sami, beat Seth for the title then Sami beats him for it at Mania. And the PPV before you could do Jey and Sami v Jimmy and KO. I hope we've not seen the last of Jey and Sami interacting. I want a proper period with them on the same page as faces. Wait….Jimmy actually did run in for Roman? LMAO Should have visited him in the hospital, Jey! I thought that was obvious. It seemed like Elimination Chamber 2010 when HBK superkicked Taker and Jericho ended up winning. It wasn't about helping Jericho it was about hurting Taker. I could be wrong and we'll find out soon but I didn't take this to mean Jimmy is re-joining Roman because that would be the dumbest shit ever.

See, I know the plan is likely "Redo WM39 but have Cody win this time" but f*** having Cody win the Rumble again. Sami wins and Night One he headlines against KO. It'd be beautiful to see and it's for a different thread.

Let Sami, Gunther or whoever's challenging the world champion win the Rumble and Cody can get the WWE title shot via winning a chamber match or something.

Jey will fall in line by the end of the year. Mark my words. The bloodline will be stronger than ever at the start of 2024

It does seem to be a big issue with this title reign: yes, the Usos are now in a higher spot than they were before, but it feels doubtful that either of them are about to fully jump to the main event. Sami gave the whole angle new life after it’d already gotten very old, got over big, but the word is they don’t really view him as a main eventer, so he hasn’t technically been elevated given he’s been an upper midcard player the whole time. I think Sami Zayn getting a world title mania event with so much emotional investment from fans and then main eventing a Wrestlemania night counts as elevation to me. Certainly doesn't get that without involvement the bloodline stuff. Eh, subjective thing for me, but if there's two nights of matches featuring all different people, I don't see night one as the main event; whatever finishes night two is the main event. My point, though, is that Sami DID benefit from the story, did get big time over, but his position on the card is fundamentally unchanged, given that the word is that WWE doesn't really view him as a main eventer. The big thing with all these long title reigns is that whenever they end, the new champs are going to need credible opponents, especially the World champ, who's going to need a new slate of opponents who can slot into the main event scene without the audience feeling like it's a stretch. My point is that unless they do commit to "main event Sami/Jey/Jimmy", they've run their list kind of dangerously thin.

Really, that makes it even more stupid. Time and time again Jey has taken a fall to protect his brother, while Solo and Roman put Jimmy in the hospital. But no, it's Jey he needs to hurt.

It’s why I’ve always preferred how a lot of the Japanese promotions do it. Where the number of successful title defenses is considered a bigger deal than just how long you hold a title.

I've been trying to dip my toe back into WWE again but I'm so burnt out on the bloodline.
Roman getting pinned should have been the set up for the split with Roman just having Sikoa as his help, putting a bigger target on his back leading to his loss at Mania.

but respectively, that opinion doesn't hold up when business shows that it's working. F*** do I care about business doing a business if I have a complaint? I can have a complaint and express my grievances with not liking the storyline and the storyline can still objectively be making the company money (But WWE makes money no matter what so like...?) I don't know why you can't just let people be upset about this? No one's telling you to hate it with us. Not once have I said people have to hate it, I've just said I think this plan sucks. Considering the walls of posts that were made about why it’s okay because of business that CM Punk is back with no repercussions, this is a little ironic.

Yeah cause what he does is good and entertaining, he's just an asshole. None of the people here are all that bad (well, depending on how you view Jimmy's repeated DUIs and Heyman's ECW business practices), but the story is running in circles with no end in sight. Two very different things.

Yeah it kinda did. Jey being the first to pin Roman at MITB was a big part of the story. And Cody beating Lesnar in a feud was needed to overcome adversity on the road to redemption. I see this all the time and maybe you can help me clear it up. Cody quitting WWE, working to build himself up on the indies, Japan and AEW for years, coming back only to have his triumphant return cut short by a brutal pectoral injury which he trains like hell to come back from - why does all of that not count as “overcoming adversity?” Why do we gotta throw “oh and he loses at Mania too” onto that pile? The pec injury sure, the other stuff is not really an in-story kayfabe happening. There was a bit of a feeling of him getting too much too soon upon his comeback with beating Rollins 3 straight times, and entering number 30 to win the Rumble. Not to say it wouldn’t have worked if he did win at Mania, but it certainly hasn’t hurt anyone involved that he didn’t.

I mean, for better or worse, Jey versus Jimmy is one of the freshest matchups in the territory. Literally had been unbroken as a team for 13 years. You don't need to break up EVERY team, though. Matt and Jeff never really had any good matches in the WWF/E. Same with Edge and Christian. I have absolutely no interest in watching a Matt vs Nick Jackson match or anything involving New Day against each other. If you wanted them to do singles separately, fine go ahead. But a lot of the time tag teams breaking up/facing against each other just flat out isn't good. Not everything works out like Bret/Owen. The Matt/Jeff Mania match and build was a lot of fun. I’ve been hoping for Jey vs. Jimmy for a while now. They legit might end up with 4 singles stars out of the Bloodline, plus Cody and Sami going up a notch.
