As someone who was there, it was quite an experience. I've been to house shows but it was quite a difference when you start seeing the riskier moves, blood, death match stuff, pyro and not actually knowing beforehand, who was going to win. Stadium Stampede was basically Anarchy On The Arena and that was quite a spectacle as was the Coffin match. I'm normally quite critical of fans who have stupid reactions to things but I may have become one myself with the FTR/Bucks near falls. I do think they missed the mark with their merchandise range, there were several stars including Sting that didn't have T-Shirts. Granted it was good for my bank balance but I would liked to have the choice and there were no programmes for the event. But I will say I did think the T-shirts would have been more expensive. There was 100% at least two different Sting shirts because I nearly wavered and got one myself, but behaved and just got an event shirt.

Good morning to everyone except that traitor Saraya.

Finally got round to watching the rest of the show after work.
Overall a really good show. Main event was excellent, enjoyed most of the matches, Stadium Stampede i didn't care for and the womens match was disapointing.
Might be able to make it to All In next year. My brothers wedding is in September and i was going to get in on August 25th. Might have to try for a few days earlier.

I don't even have words for how much I enjoyed attending this. I had a great view, the most fun people around me all so happy to be there, and even the booking quibbles (Saraya, FTR winning) aren't deal breakers at all. Can't wait to rewatch it.
Thanks Tony Khan for making wrestling so much fun again.

I had it in in my mind it was set up for 85k I think I read? Just seemed more gaps than I figured would be. Like I’m not disputing 81k sold or anything, I was just wondering if something happened with certain groups of tickets not able to get in or something. I could be wrong and just misjudged the spaces though

Ignorance and lazilyness on my part not looking up the info ha. Now instead we can focus on AEW having its own version of WWEs Saudi Arabia with AEW wrestler potentially stranded in UK. Is King Charles linked to the air traffic issue in UK airports? I’m not not saying he is, but I’m also not not not saying he isn’t……

Well that was a blast. View was better than I was expecting from the top tier but you do have to watch some of it on screens. Could have done with one showing the entrances from TV.
I can't believe the turnaround from rolling my eyes at MJF being so boringly try hard earlier in the year to being the most over face. That main event was just a perfectly executed rollercoaster.
Looking at the clips it doesn't sound like the volume came out on TV throughout, trying to find a good vid of MJF's theme being sung by the crowd, this will do
Joe Vs Punk was also hot with a very split crowd which seemed to go more towards Joe as it went on. Had to suppress myself from laughing at some Punk fans on the tube saying it was just online hate. Wheeler's gotta gun was my favourite chant.
Some of the multimen weren't so good live, Stadium stampede in particular was hard to follow but even that had Sue, skewers and the place going mad for Eddie. Could have also done with the pre show filling some gaps.

Hoping all international fans that flew over got home safely today in the travel chaos. Was supposed to be going to Naples today on holiday but my flight was cancelled. Had to reschedule. I know Tony Khan said fans from over 70 countries were present so hoping not too many have been stranded.

Still on a high after attending and can't wait for next year. They're definitely going to have to pull out more stops to sell the tickets this time but hopefully they can do it. Feeling extremely grateful that Tony Khan decided to get involved with wrestling right now either way.
Gonna watch it again on ITV on Thursday to properly judge , but at the moment MJF/Cole and Bucks/FTR were the best matches with Jericho/Ospreay only a notch below and then Punk/Joe just a notch below that again (Punk finally beating Joe with the Pepsi Plunge after 20 years was perfect having recently watched their ROH trilogy again). Still loved everything else too, particularly the Sting Coffin match and even the women's match which was quite short still had the moment of Saraya winning the title.
MJF and Cole was an absolute rollercoaster, it seemed like the match was masterfully setting up a double turn with Cole becoming more desperate to get the win but have no problem with them sticking with it for a while yet. Shit it at that double clothesline ending just because with All Out next week it seemed possible it could be used to set that up. I've already had one really good show I've attended being soured slightly by the ending when Roman beat Cody at Mania so thankfully that didn't happen again.
It feels like it's going to be hard to top that next year but I am a fan of singles matches so more of those is perhaps one way they can try and outdo it, hopefully one involving Danielson and the other involving Omega if they don't face each other. Would love Dynamite and Collision over here next year too now to make it a bit different now they've had that first special event.

Could have also done with the pre show filling some gaps. At least I'm our section, it was 80/20 for Joe, a couple of people would try and get something going for Punk, then 5 seconds later "JOE JOE JOE JOE" I've never seen him smile so much in a match in my life, Joe was eating it up.

Gotta day as well I kinda wonder about the attendance figure. Might be tickets sold etc but defo seemed like decent gaps in some sections Getting 81K into an arena probably took some time, that and people likely not always in their seats But 81K sold seemed to be the number From a friend who was there and has no reason to not be reliable, he said not a chance they broke the record, that there were lots of empty seats all around and one large section was barely any in it, less than a quarter full. Which honestly I think is likely true- the stadium panoramas literally never showed the hardcam side, which is usually an indicator of tarps/gaps- WWE do the same thing a lot of the time, I forget which Summerslam it was that fan photos showed huge gaps on the hardcam side. This is an industry where attendance figures are bullshitted all the time, and I live in London and was seeing ads for tickets on the tube in the past week. They got by far the biggest crowd for a non-WWE wrestling show in history, but I don't think they broke the record. Rest of my post is just gonna be my thoughts on the show so apologies if this runs long: It was a pretty good show, not perfect but I still definitely enjoyed it. Punk/JoeThey're 19-20 years on from their prime matches but this was still good, possibly my favourite match on the show. Joe looked FANTASTIC and like he was having fun, the table spot was brutal. The finish was a little laboured and I saw it coming soon as Joe set Punk on the buckles, but really nice callback. Very very good opener. BC Gold/Takeshita vs Golden EliteBit disappointing in honesty. Omega is wasted in a 2nd match trios for a show like this, he needed a major singles. If the claims are true that him & Punk are cool that should have been the co-main. Still don't 'get' Takeshita, he's a fine athlete but just has nothing about him to interest me. Ibushi has noticeably lost a few steps. Fine match, personally would have preferred Jay get the pin but nice surprise and rub I guess. FTR/Young BucksPretty good but it had a few hallmarks of modern tags I'm not huge on- specifically an excess of false finishes, and the sychronised swimming style pair-up sequences that really break my suspension of disbelief. Hair impressed me with some of his stuff here, pity he's an even bigger dipshit than Bald with this whole arrest thing. I didn't know about that before the show I've been kind of out of the loop on most wrestling news for a couple weeks besides Bray & Funk. Makes the finish even more perplexing in hindsight, I wanted the Bucks to win as I'm just a bit tired with FTR but jeez. Still, pretty good. Stadium StampedeAbsolutely mental. Seemed to exhaust or kill the crowd from my stream (although there was weird stuff with the crowd volume all show, I couldn't tell if the mics were cutting out, audio was being sweetened Seagull Pop style, or the crowd just kept being stop-start). Had some great bits and some bits I didn't like. Penta Obscuro is just a costume change and music cue from what I saw- they did nothing to sell the difference (tbh Excalibur was off a fair bit all night I thought, kept going quiet or missing stuff, I get this match is chaos but there were missed spots and silences by the commentary especially here). They shouldn't have redone the ladder spot after it broke, improvise and do something else. Didn't like Orange pinning Claudio, Claudio eats way too many losses and is generally just not nearly the big star he should be after his meteoric debut month. Is OC legit hurt or something as he didn't do a ton all match. But this was a fun, chaotic walk and brawl, about as crazy as you'll ever see outside the deathmatch circuit. Women's Title Four WayGod I don't know what it is but AEW's women's division just always seems to miss the mark when I tune into big shows. Obvious outcome was obvious but it didn't especially do much to get there, I know they didn't have a ton of time but yeah. Feel like this could have done with Jamie Hayter, shame she's out. Derby/Sting vs Swerve/ChristianDerby Allin is going to die in the ring one day. Some of the spots he does are just so reckless, the handcuffed moonsault, the coffin drop onto the coffin. This match had me wincing so badly for him. Sting...Legend, and the entrance gave me childhood flashbacks, but hang it up man. He really can't do much. That said this match worked around his limitations well and was a decent brawl. Wrong call on the outcome though, should've been Swerve coffin-ing Sting. The guy is the guy, the crowd reaction for SWERVE'S HOUSE should have been enough alone to call an audible. The whole entrance- the live theme rendition, his look with the Embassy jacket, Nana as his (unnecessary given his own charisma) Hype man...Strap a rocket to Swerve, Tony, cmon. The guy screams star. Ospreay/JerichoI still love Jericho. A THIRD Queen reference was perhaps a bit much but his entrance was great. He obviously had to play heel despite the storyline but he brought his working boots, did not think he had a hurracanrana in him (and props to Ospreay for posting him off his shoulder like that). Really really solid match, liked this a lot. Ass Scissors vs Edgy D&D LadsI love the Acclaimed. Right call for them to win but good god how many titles does AEW have? I honestly can't keep track of them all, between the what, 5 singles titles, the womens title, the tag, trios, the ROH belts, IWGP or AAA or Impact belts guesting...When everyone comes out with a belt, nobody feels like they have a belt. This was fine, Billy Gunn's AEW run has been bizarrely good. MJF/ColeSo I'll be the first to admit- I've never 'got' Adam Cole. He's deep, DEEP in that Johnny Gargano, Ciampa, Keith Lee territory to me of "I'm not sure why there's so much buzz for this guy". He's fine on the mic but nothing that special, he's solid in the ring but I HATE the Panama Sunrise, plus he really overdoes the false finishes and his chain sequences tend to feel a bit more rehearsal runthrough than '2 guys competing' to me, and he's really not got a look or presence that says star, to me. I've just no idea why this guy is given the world ahead of other guys on the roster who I can point to who have way more about them IMO (Hell, one guy I always think of as 'how isnt he bigger' is Marq Quen, is he STILL injured?). I also haven't taken to the bromance story with MJF especially, primarily due to the video packages they do which are always painfully overproduced (but that's a problem I find all AEW vignettes have, the slowmo, the camera cuts, the drawn out hamminess, it feels like a TV show within the wrestling show rather than anything approaching suspension of disbelief) but also due to this whole Double Clothesline bit, which just feels like a PWG parody of tag finishes and 'rivals become partners' and I went off parody wrestling about 12-13 years ago and don't think it should be a part of a main event storyline. Not to mention I just can't buy face MJF especially when he's a far better heel. All that negative preamble aside, I really, really, enjoyed the main event. Good action (aside from yeah, the Panama Sunrise which I admit is just a bugbear I have), good storytelling, I bought a lot of the "he's gonna cross the line" fakeouts, and the outcome was the right one and done in an interesting way which I didn't expect- I admit I'd have just had MJF revert to type, probably after Cole fakes out but refuses to cross the line. It's never the main event match I'd have gone for or particularly wanted for such a big show, but they both did a really good job with it. That steps brainbuster was disgusting. Very good main event. So yeah. As with most AEW shows, I come away from it feeling like it's not especially a product for me in a lot of ways and there's a lot of the little things that I still find grating, but that there was still enough that I liked that I did enjoy it as a show. But I can't deny I'm wondering wtf they're gonna do about the latest Punk drama and Cash's problems, more than I am about the onscreen direction.

Could have also done with the pre show filling some gaps. I think it’s partially the fact that stadium noise always sounds louder in the building than on television and partially the fact that people were doing different things. In that video people are chanting “Der der der der der der” in our section we were chanting “Better than, better than, better than, better than you”. Different noises always then leads to everything becoming a bit more muffled. It’s really interesting hearing how different parts of the stadium felt the split was during Punk/Joe cos where I was we could hear the pop for Punk when Cult played but other than that it was like 95/5 in favour of Joe. My mate was cheering Punk on and at one point he turned round to me and said “Am I literally the only person in here cheering for Punk?” But then a different friend of mine who went with his partner and their two bairns said their section was solidly 70/30 Punk fans.
