At that price, the 10 in 1 cart had better consist of rare games like Air Raid, Chase the Chuckwagon, Atlantis II, and Red Sea Crossing. Something tells me you won't be happy with Yar's Revenge, Adventure, Combat, and Video Pinball, then. The best compilation of 2600 games I've ever played is Activision Anthology on the PS2. It's not just the quality of the games, but the presentation is incredible, the bonus content was fun, and it had an optional in game of soundtrack of 80s top 40 hits. Atari seems really content with continuously rehashing stuff in different packages to make something worthwhile outside of the Flashback. They rarely seem to embrace the nostalgia full on.

Plays 2600 and 7800 carts and has HDMI? I'd definitely get rid of my 7800 with its fragile ass rare power supply and RF only for this.
If it was just another Plug and Play, I wouldn't.

The appeal is the ability to play legit 2600 and 7800 carts, much more so then the limited pack in games. And there's retro systems that can fit that role that costs a fraction of the price. Yeah, it might be "official" but if I'm going to shell out that kind of money to play retro carts, then I'll just get a retro 2600. Are there? Stuff like the Retron are around the same price and the all in one TV game consoles don't have a cartridge slot and are often just NES on a chip hardware running shonky ports.

Honestly Atari 50, which is on modern consoles, has Lynx, 5200, & Jaguar games on top of the 2600 titles, and is a digital museum for the entire Atari brand? Yeah that's kind of the better deal at $40 than $130 for ten games. Atari 50 rules so much

Kind of amazing the company who last produced a video game before I was born has the gall to ask for 130 bucks for 10 games from their catalogue lmfao

Apparently throwing the 10 in 1 cart in as a bonus is a huge marketing mistake, seems everyone thinks that’s the only thing this is capable of playing.

They also own Retro FPS developer Nightdive Studios who made all the well regarded remakes of stuff like Doom 64, Powerslave, Rise of the Triad, Quake 2 and such, and have stuff like Dark Forces and System Shock 2 in the pipeline.

Most Retrons go for under $100, usually around the $75 range. That being said..who is the market for this? Seems like a very niche audience who only wants to play on cartridges. But this is Atari...the most basic home console other than Pong or the Odyssey 1...just build them into the console. I mean is there a reason why they're only including 10 games instead of 50 or more? Again...just a huge ripoff in my eyes for something that is "official".

Honestly I’m saving all my money for the Intellivision Amico, which I’m sure will get it’s proper release any day now.

Apparently throwing the 10 in 1 cart in as a bonus is a huge marketing mistake, seems everyone thinks that’s the only thing this is capable of playing. The fact that you can put old carts into it and play them isn’t anywhere near as big an appeal as having games pre-loaded on it IMO. I’d think most people who have old Atari carts also have an old console to play them on anyway.

I’d think most people who have old Atari carts also have an old console to play them on anyway. Not to mention that the 10 in 1 has the safest possible choices. I'm also realizing now that it only comes with one controller. Unless they're selling those separately, I don't see how you'll enjoy multiplayer carts with anyone who doesn't already own the system. They dropped the ball on my boy Warlords!

Yeah but why? Is there really a market for video game consoles with graphics reaching 2 bits?

‘We lost a lot of money on the ET game, so let’s lose more money forty years later.’ Dixie Carter (formerly of what is now Impact wrestling) must be in charge of Atari now.

The Atari name and license has been bounced around so many times, I doubt anyone from the original company is even loosely associated with it now, but man. You'd think 1 of the companies that take hold of it would know how to make it work, but nope.
