Some surprises with the Openweight title bouts on this tour, but overall we got to where I expected by the end of this show. Uemura was obviously the new member of J5G, and it was a single tag match, but he didn't seem quite changed from his time on excursion. He also seemed winded early both in his match and at the end of the main event, but I'll chalk that up to the Western bulk diet the lions tend to be on before they slim down into their final forms back in Japan. Aside from that, we're on the road to Wrestle Kingdom. It feels like this year was a nice step forward in changing some aspects of the company and giving younger talent their starter pistols. I would think WK + NYD + New Beginning will ultimately tell us what the next few years will be like, with various promotions, demotions and certain talent leaving. Uemura was still wearing his trunks from his time in Impact, guess he's still getting ready to debut his new look

Finally watching through the post-match comments and noticed two potential title bouts named: ELP/Hikuleo vs. Monster Sauce for the STRONG tag belts and Tama vs. Shingo for the NEVER title. Both could add to the Vegas card, or Power Struggle is a week after.

Hiromo successfully defends the belt, and receives a new challenger in the returning Taiji Ishimori. Feels like a time paradox with this one

Took me a while to finally catch up on NJPW but I am fine with what I am saying
Give the young dogs the run
This upcoming Sanada/Naito match should be a banger as this is Naito last hurrah. I think whoever wins drops it to the cup winner but hopefully they don't really side track him like they did Shingo after he lost the title

I feel like SANADA has a better chance of not getting side-tracked than Shingo had, where I sort of wonder if maybe Shingo was too humble to not be fine with being okay with sliding down into the midcard. SANADA on the other hand, at least in interviews, comes off like he knows he's upped his game and that this is where he feels he belongs. He's also significantly younger and, with all due respect and love for Shingo, SANADA has enjoyed more popularity than he has, at least at points. It's not like Shingo is chopped liver, but SANADA is a very handsome man, and that isn't an insignificant factor in NJPW for top popularity. Ask Okada and Tanahashi. Hiromo successfully defends the belt, and receives a new challenger in the returning Taiji Ishimori. Feels like a time paradox with this one I'm kinda sick of this match-up, too, but with Taiji having been hurt against him, I at least feel like it makes sense for a defense, just please do not have Ishimori win it. I love Ishimori, but he just really does not need to be champion again right now. I actually would dig a face run for him sometime, but not right now, not against Hiromu.

It is too rinse and repeat especially when they have basically traded the title like 3x between them. Whenever Ishimori wins the title he never defends it and just keeping it warm for Hiromu mostly The last WrestleKingdom match for the Juniors Title to not feature Hiromu or Ishimori was WrestleKingdom 10 KUSHIDA vs Kenny Omega

Eddie Kingston's 5th defense of the Strong Title will be his toughest, as he's defending it tonight against Minoru Suzuki.

STARDOM will not be making an appearance at Wrestle Kingdom, the IWGP Women's title will be defended at a Tokyo Dome City Hall event on January 4th before Wrestle Kingdom.
NJPW World update will be live on November 9th.
Revenue reached "98% of pre-revenue peak" this year, with sponsorship revenue being a big contributor whilst attendances are regrouping as well, so they're expecting new records soon.
Hokkaido tour planned for 2024, after being delayed by pandemic. We can expect another crossover show with STARDOM next year though.

Looks like Historic X-Over 2 is happening, but no date was announced, which would lead me to think itβs a 2024 event this late into the year.
It also sounds like they are sleeping 3 per bed in the Noge dojo. These kids better debut soon and free up some space. Itβs starting to sound like the Fale dojo with how cramped it is.

Gedo booked
- a Best of Seven series to end in a tie - EVIL in the main event - another Hiromu/Ishimori program - one of the worst matches of the year in Tanga/Owens
Someone save this company.

I sort of get two of these, but the best of seven ending in a tie is more than a little bit silly, and Tanga/Owens is inexcusably dogshit, yeah.

NJPW was doing so good the start of the year, right up to Dominion and Forbidden Door. A bloated, exorbitant G1 with some awful booking really halted their good run. And it hasn't recovered. I haven't really enjoyed either big Destruction show. Still have faith in the youth movement they've got going on, but the glacial pace of their booking has me worried they're going to take way too long before Umino, Uemura, Tsuji, Narita and the others are at the top of the card.

With the Strong titles available you can most likely do both I actually wouldn't mind if the youth movement in general, everyone walked out with some type of title at WK Umino: US title Uemura Tag Tsuji:Tag Narita: TV

Every bad Gedo move is compounded by the knowledge that his next top star presented himself Immediately in Tsuji and he is doing dick all about it.
That G1 booking for Tsuji was criminal. Get our shit together. You canβt wait for Narita and Shota to catch up to him for some bullshit plan you have. They are never going to catch up to him.
