Bit off subject but that WWE being 'on fire with their shows' thing is why AEW can't really win most of the time, the WWE bar seems so low by comparison. The last 3 WWE PPVs seem to have got a lukewarm reception most places while AEWs last 3 or 4 have been rated as all timers, and while AEWs weeklies have been a bit more mixed of late they've generally always had the higher regarded weekly shows as WWE's often just seem like they're teeing up their next PPV, but you don't ever read about AEW being on fire with their shows. Like, aside from the Bray tribute Smackdown and the Smackdown where the Rock came back and one random Raw from a few months back I can't really see another critically acclaimed weekly show, like an all timer, from this year in WWE, whereas there's a quite a few Dynamite's and a couple of Collisions (sorry Rammers) that fit the description.
AEW could deliver an all timer Dynamite tonight and within a couple of days it could, and probably will, be forgotten, WWE can drop two average go home shows then deliver an average PPV and the response is wildly different.

WWE cultivated a very low bar for awhile.... Also it takes time to get people to not think anything that isn't WWE is minor league.

There is also the underlying fashion that WWE audiences are more vocally critical and accepting of the low bar being the norm where AEW's receptions are routinely considered to be elevated by it's audience so they are immediately dismissed. It really reminds me of a part of the CM Punk DVD where they discuss all of his hype and they talk about no matter how cool it is due to the hype it will never measure up and unfortunately to me that has always been AEW. It's hard because at times it's almost as if they are not playing to the same audience even though they should be.

I love that people are taking TK seriously. He's getting that free advertising across all wrestling media about the time change and his show while only raising the hair of those that always prickle up when he tweets.

Aren’t we missing kind of an obvious thing with the Tony Khan tweets? He’s done this before and knows people get talking about him and see and engage with the tweets. The same tweets plug the show and stuff on it. He’s made the decision that trolling for engagement gets eyeballs on social media posts about the show. I kind of take it the way he handled the CM Punk firing before the shows in Chicago; some people looked at him weird for going out and directly addressing the audience about it, but what he did, in effect, was put the heat on himself rather than let the talent be in the line of fire. Not saying that makes him some great saint or anything, but it's kind of what a good manager for a baseball team does: go out and talk to the media, tell them that you're the one who made whatever controversial decision, maybe sometimes say something kind of ornery-sounding or whatever so that the press's heat is on you and less on your players. If AEW "wins" tonight, it's all sunshine, but if it "loses" then Tony can basically make himself the primary focal point for any shit-flinging being sent the company's way. As for the "fired up source in WWE", that is just cringe. Your show is the one on its normal night and time slot, your show is supposed to "win" tonight. Don't tell me this is what you're "all about" if your big strategy is bring back big past names who won't be there next week. And personally, trying to say "their opening won't compare!" when it seems like it'll probably be Hangman vs. Switchblade? That won't work against a shameless NJPW mark like me, damnit, miss me with that shit.

Bald Asshole...
Why does TK hate FTR Bald so much? Is it still about Punk?

AEW fans: "You shouldn't talk about Eddie Kingston and Kieth Lee being overweight, that's body shaming."
Tony Khan: "Bald Asshole!"
The second that WWE actually compete with AEW, Tony Khan throws a tamper tantrum. Mr. "We're in a war, I'm not going to take this shit." As soon a WWE actually competes with AEW, "please, not like that!"

Man, I don't want to be accused of stanning for AEW or anything...I'm really just excited for a great night of wrestling from both companies and sports at large. But I just am mystified that anyone could look at TK's tweets and be like "yep, he's throwing a temper tantrum." He's advertising his show through social media antics, like he always does.

Just my 2p but I feel like the Kingston/Suzuki match being for the titles renders it pointless. No drama, everybody knows Suzuki isn't taking the titles, whereas non-title there's at least the possibility he might win. I'm not endorsing Roman style "one defence every solstice" booking but this is why too many title matches, especially for a company that likes to wink-nudge and nod to the fans who follow the meta-booking and dirtsheets etc., isn't a good thing. Saying this now they'll probably pull an insane one and have Claudio cost Kingston the belts or something but hey least that'd be a shock. AEW fans: "You shouldn't talk about Eddie Kingston and Kieth Lee being overweight, that's body shaming." Tony Khan: "Bald Asshole!" The second that WWE actually compete with AEW, Tony Khan throws a tamper tantrum. Mr. "We're in a war, I'm not going to take this shit." Because he is throwing one and this isn't him just doing advertising- it might work as it in a roundabout way in terms of attention (although I dont think it's effective advertising as people don't always respond well to a billionaire acting entitled, thinskinned and coked up on social media) - but this isn't Tony doing marketing. This is Tony being Tony, he was like this all the time with Fulham FC on Twitter back when he took a much more active role- 99% of Fulham fans are breathing a huge sigh of relief that he's too busy with AEW now to be as hands on, the minute he stepped back the club's performance and atmosphere went up. Tony gets a ton of goodwill I believe because fans see a bit of themselves in Tony, he's a living wish fulfilment of all of us who've ever played EWR, been in efeds, etc. But he's a right dickhead.

Tweeting memes all day long increases social media engagement and gives his product free advertising. Which is important, particularly on a day that the show is airing outside of its normal timeslot due to circumstances beyond AEW's control. NXT is going to beat Dynamite handily in the television ratings tonight. It's a virtual certainty. But, Tony Khan leaning into the "war" aspect of it all to help create more of a buzz for his show isn't exactly what I would call "throwing a temper tantrum."

Like, this is a guy whose made it clear several times he sees AEW as the Pepsi to WWE’s Coca Cola. Pepsi hypes itself as a better alternative all the time, going as far as bragging about anon taste tests where they win. Alternatives don’t usually go out of their way to play it safe with some of this stuff.
