I can't quite recall what it was, but there was a point when I was just feeling down and, of all things, it was Spoony's videos that cheered me up throughout. The Phantasmagoria 2 let's play still manages to make me laugh.

When I had a bad stretch of skipping work and basically not leaving my apartment for days at a time my schedule was watching Scrubs reruns, MST3K dvds and Cinema Snob videos online.

Middle School and High School were some of the most miserable times of my entire life. It was also around this time on my 14th birthday when I got a Sega Dreamcast which was the first game console I ever owned myself.
The Sonic Adventure games, Tokyo Xtreme Racer, WWF Attitude, NBA Hoopz helped keep me going.
Also keeping up with the Archie Sonic comics via SonicHQ.org. Just thinking about it gives me nostalgia chills.
KidsWB was always something of "comfort food" for me even as a teenagers. I was especially into Static Shock. I wish they made more cartoons for teenagers.

In general, Mythbusters has always been a big comfort show of mine.
A specific example of something else, though… October 2018, my mother died of ovarian cancer. The fact that she regressed so quickly made any tentative plans to go to the WWE stadium show in Melbourne impossible, in case she went while I was out of state and I wasn’t there. Wouldn’t have been able to live with myself otherwise.
Anyway, we have the funeral and not long after that is one those pesky Saudi shows. And I’ll be damned if that horrible-ass DX v Undertaker/Kane match was the first time in months I felt normal again. All the silly botches perked me right back up again, and I’ll always hold a soft spot for that match because of it.

Oh yeah, also at that time, I got really into 1,000 ways to die
Something about seeing morons and jerks die in stupid manners, was really comforting

I guess during the pandemic and me trying to fight my anger issues/depression that were plaguing me, I guess Virtual YouTubers (the first one I watched being Hololive's Gawr Gura) helped me give something to watch to help me relax and feel more happy.

I wouldn't say it got me through anything but at the start of last year the medication I was taking combined with things going on at the time gave me the worst anxiety I've had in my life to the point where despite seeing my therapist weekly, I would need to call him days after an appointment to talk for ten minutes just to calm down. Some stuff that helped me during that time would be to put on Smiling Friends or the recent Resident Evil movie as background noise as I tried to go to sleep because being alone with my thoughts was painful. I also started getting really into Scott the Woz and watched all of his videos.

My current "comfort shows" are any wrestling that looks interesting from IVPvideos (the Patreon stuff), and my Drive-In Delirium blu-rays. There's six discs and each has between 4 and 8 hours of old movie trailers. Perfect for winding down at the end of a tough day.

My mental health was absolutely spiraling at the beginning of the pandemic when everything was shutting down and I was paranoid about me or my family or friends getting seriously ill or worse. Thankfully, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Persona 5 Royal came out in quick succession near each other and those were over 100+ hours where my mind was occupied with entertainment and not creating doom scenarios or catastrophizing the worst.
Wrestling also helped a lot during that time. Between the Performance Center episode of Smackdown with Triple H on commentary to the AEW Dynamite in an empty Daily's Place that started with almost a theatrical monologue with Cody, the Bucks, Omega, and Adam Page. It was surreal but added a weird sense of normalcy and a feeling of "we're getting through this together."

Whenever I’m feeling down, I turn to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. There’s other stuff I watch or listen to, but that one is the go to.

Another thing that got me through my rough time in the spring was playing "Streets of Rage" games. They helped me a lot.
