In huge shocking news, the winners of the Rookie of the Year awards were Gunnar Henderson and Corbin Carroll and they were unanimous.
I can't believe it, every writer voted for the right guy.

Buzz is that Ohtani is "very intrigued" by the idea of joining the Braves and might even be open to a short-term deal. However, the same report says there's basically no chance him signing in Atlanta actually happens.

I said that last off-season was a make or break one for Chaim Bloom, and it clearly broke considering the team finished in last place in the AL East and he lost his job. So now it's on Craig Breslow, and he's facing a daunting off-season for the Red Sox.
Boston is committed to $114 million for the 2024 season, meaning they have all the payroll flexibility to go out and make a couple of big splashes this winter. Granted, that $114 million is locked in to only eight players, including a ghastly $17.5 million to the ghost of Chris Sale, but they have both the positional availability and payroll flexibility to completely remake the roster by the time the first pitch is thrown in 2024.
They're really only locked in to guaranteed starters at five positions (Connor Wong at catcher, Triston Casas at first base, Trevor Story at second or short, Rafael Devers at third base, Masataka Yoshida in leftfield) on the diamond, meaning they could find an entirely new outfield this off-season. And in the pitching staff, we know they'll have Sale, Brayan Bello, Garrett Whitlock, Tanner Houck, Kenley Jansen, and Chris Murphy on the Opening Day roster, so they can go out and acquire a few quality starters or reliable relievers.
I know the question comes down to whether ownership will give Breslow the financial freedom to really build this team, but when you factor in dwindling TV ratings, declining attendance, and interest that's at an all-time low for the franchise, the Red Sox know they have to make a splash or three this winter to get the fanbase back and invested in this club.

That Cashman quote about Stanton is wild. Any other GM and I’d think his job was in danger but it’s Cashman, so Hal probably writing up a contract extension as we speak.

That Cashman quote about Stanton is wild. Any other GM and I’d think his job was in danger but it’s Cashman, so Hal probably writing up a contract extension as we speak. Anything to avoid accountability with this joker. The guy that he traded for, thinking that he'd would outsmart everyone and find the missing piece to the championship puzzle. He traded for Stanton when Harper was right around the corner. He has let other valuable assets get signed to other clubs in free agency because he traded for Stanton. So now he comes out and publicly embarrasses the guy for being injury prone, which every GM with a functioning brain knew already years before he was traded. So not does this mean that Jeter fleeced the f*** out of him, but now, not only is Cashman killing the Yankees, but he's also killing free agents' interest in coming to the Bronx, and any chances of offloading Stanton because you essentially devalued him publicly. He tried to the do same with Judge two winters ago, and Judge shut him the f*** up with a historic season, and even then, it took Hal stepping in to get him signed. At what point does Hal realize that Cashman is a toxic presence in the Yankees and has been for over a decade now? And even then, it's not like Hal is going to do anything about it because Cashman knows where the bodies are buried. What a shitty time to be a Yankees fan. Garbage product helmed by a garbage GM, and garbage owner.

The stupidest thing about this is Stanton's agent also represents Yamamoto. Like if the Yanks get screwed out of him because of Cashman's comments, that's a fireable offense. But it won't happen because Hal's got no balls.

I'm not mad or disappointed with Cashman because he does and says stupid shit all the time it's just the norm.
Yankees have some serious organization rot, content passive ownership, a gm who is so far up his own ass thinking he's the smartest gm ever and an untouchable God and then our puppet of a manager who's only job is too kiss the players bruised egos and smile to reporters. All 3 need to go but none will and the team will continue to be stuck in neutral till than. 2017 will be 7 years ago and instead of moving forward all the Yankees have done is gone backwards.

Only thing that might force Hal's hand into making actual changes besides a hitting coach is if ticket sales for the 2024 season nosedive.

I dunno. Bench clearing brawls are clearly more entertaining, but we're in the MLB thread so that's expected

Congrats to Gerrit Cole on winning his first ever Cy Young award! Unanimous choice, too.
Blake Snell wins it for the NL. He got 28 out of 30 first place votes with Logan Webb and Zac Gallen getting one first place vote each.
