The Cardinals seem to be the only team aware that free agency has started. There needs to be a moratorium on reporters leading a post with "BREAKING" when it's not really breaking news. I quickly scanned that Tweet and saw "Shohei Ohtani," "Cubs," and "$500 million" and my eyes nearly burst out of my skull.

The Cards are the perfect landing place for Sonny.

Sonny does better in lowkey places so he should do well with St Louis but they also got a legacy so he could crumble under pressure
So far him and Maeda going to Tigers are good moves

The Cards are the perfect landing place for Sonny. He looks absolutely THRILLED, the face of a man realizing that Contreras will be calling most of his games...

Severino close to a deal with the Mets 1 year/13 million. I don't mind that gamble. Get two more pitchers now please.

Yeah that seems like a pretty good deal for the Mets. Maybe a bit of an overpay based on how bad Sevy was in 2023, but it's a one year deal, so no big deal. Either he stinks again and is gone in a year, or he bounces back and is great value.

It's a "show me something" deal. Not the worst thing for either Sevy or the Mets. He needs to prove that he can both stay consistent and, more importantly, finish a season without a long stint on the IL.

If the Wilpons still ran the Mets, Severino would be the offseason's big pitching signing, and then they'd make the GM come out and tell us "and David Peterson should be back like August, so that'll be like a trade deadline acquisition."
I like not having the Wilpons run the Mets anymore.

RedSox, Rangers and Mets have all reportedly shifted their focus away from Ohtani
Word around the league is he is still expected to get over $500M

Yankees are in on Yamamoto and Soto
Name attached to Ohtani as well
Like I said when the season ended I think this is their f*** that we spending off-season similar to when they got Tex, Burnett, and CC
Don’t see them going that hard but the fanbase expect them to walk away with two nice names coming into this season

Never realistically expected Ohtani to the Rangers but I won’t act like it wasn’t an exciting rumor

I want someone to offer Ohtani $1 more than the highest offer like on 'Price is Right'.

RedSox, Rangers and Mets have all reportedly shifted their focus away from Ohtani Word around the league is he is still expected to get over $500M Giants apparently remain a mystery. The optimist in me says they have a shot because they’re a mystery to everyone and Ohtani wanted secrecy. The pessimist in me laughs at that line of thinking and laughs at thinking they were ever even considered.

Yankees and Padres stall in talks for Soto. Blue Jays are a rumored name out there
Apparently Padres want Michael King, Drew Thorpe and 4 or 5 other prospects plus money for Soto and Grisham

But as good as Soto is, that's way too much to give up for just one year of the guy. And he's a Scott Boras client on top of that so that's all it's gonna be.

If he still had 2 years on his deal it be worth consideration but as a possible one year rental and then have to fight to sign him for $300M deal, just wait Rather they take their chances on signing Bellinger and going after other players
