Corey said they all get paid equally and used these examples. Playing live shows/touring/, recording/playing. He said all of them being from Iowa it makes sense, do the work get paid. Which on the surface makes it sound like everyone is just split equally, but he does not specify anything about writing, or publishing rights, or management.
So it sounds crazy that other OG members don't have higher stakes, it very well could be down to the writing of the music which has ALWAYS been a reason bands break up with members. It kills so many bands from Twister Sister to Dokken, to Kiss, to Oasis etc. Jay probably asked for a raise and was let go since he is just a hired gun. The writers always make more money. Hell Sting made millions upon millions more than P.Diddy did because of his writing and publishing rights, same with Ricky Martin and Sisqo from the Thong Song. Writers always make more money.
Interestingly Taylor Swift has been able to re record all of her stuff without publishing rights fees because she is the sole writer. So if Corey and Craig are the writers, and everyone else, even OG members like Mick are happy with their cut and duties it just works out for them.
Slipknot are always secretive about this stuff though, until a separation occurs and even then it seems like lawyers shut people up quickly. The band is a cash cow, whether they want to admit it or not. Probably sucks for Jay because his job in that band was a kid growing up to play with his heroes. But then again who wouldn't hire Max Weinbergs son? Wouldn't be shocked to see nepotism being thrown at him depending how the exit goes.
I am going to call Eddie Trunk tomorrow and see if he knows anything about this. I am curious if this band stakes claim is true.
