As a general comment I like it when there are cast members who have musical theater backgrounds but maybe they've left that world for sometime, so when there is a musical episode it's like, "Oh, right, they're really good at this." I don't know if anyone from Scrubs had a background in musical theater, though the guest patient was Stephanie D'Abruzzo from Avenue Q.
It is why I liked the Star Trek SNW musical episode. Celia Rose Gooding (Uhura) was in Jagged Little Pill on Broadway. And while not a musical theater actor, Christina Chong (La'an) is a professional singer, too. And Carol Kane (Pella) was in Wicked.

I think there are so many things that can go wrong with these episodes, so I admit to usually dreading it. Still, if it hits, it can be a fun gimmick.

With the Flash they had a lot of legit singing talent as well. Hell they brought people over from the other DC shows because of their chops.

So, I just discovered Doom Patrol has a musical episode and it was fantastic. There were some genuine bangers while still being completely irreverent as Doom Patrol tends to be. I had a blast watching it, though I don't think it makes top 3. Many of the songs suited the characters singing them and the sex ghosts were enjoyable backup. Also, it reminded me of the Supernatural musical episode. I don't remember much of it other than the opening number. I think I might have to go rewatch it.
Edit: I went back and rewatched the Supernatural episode. It wasn't a musical episode so much as an episode with musical numbers in it. The brothers are investigating a disappearance that leads them to a college production of Supernatural the Musical. It was the 200th episode and went a bit meta as the show did from time to time (some of the meta episodes were among the best episodes overall). While not a true musical episode, "The Road So Far" is a great listen and the episode was a great love letter to the show and its fans even as it poked fun at itself.
