It's that time again to decide the score for this week's Dynamite.

in reality it is probably a 7-7.5 but i have a fondness for wrestling heavy wrestling shows plus gotta give props that they had the balls to give that main event a straight up winner. flew by for me at least so an 8

Would've gone with a 7, but a really strong main event made me bump it up to an 8.

G1 style tournaments are the best, so it's a minimum 8 rating for me. Lethal hurting Moxley's leg sets up possibilities moving forward, Rush and Briscoe match up so well stylistically, and White/Swerve was one of the better 15 minute TV matches you'll see anywhere. Also dug Emi fully playing up the unimpressed veteran against Julia (her face when Julia tried kicking her in the back was great), even if she got caught in the end trying to avoid the moonsault.
Also enjoyed Joe running out to save MJF and at first basically telling him "Hey man, chill, cool down, it's ok, you're safe, I'm going to kill you, not them." Hope they get to face the curiously Wardlow-shaped devil guy next week!

I know it’s kind of divisive over the larger wrestling internet, but I love the Continental Classic so far, and a G1 style tournament is the perfect thing for AEW to be doing right now in this transitional period trying to re-establish that alternative feeling in the post-Punk era because it’s something that you would absolutely never see in WWE.
Really good wrestling tonight and I loved the Edge/Christian segment. 8.

Round robins always lead to some really interesting matchups we wouldn't normally get.

I'm going to go 9. I do want them to do this tournament again, though I know it's hit or miss on what things AEW winds up doing a second time versus total one-offs, so we'll see.

I went 8.
It's been really fun watching Swerve emerge as one of the company's top guys. Jay White probably needs a few wins now to get him back on track but Swerve beating him was the right call.
The Copeland/Christian promo was good stuff. It felt like Christian got a little lost in the middle for some reason but it was good. A few folks are trying to use the "F" bomb getting through the censors as a way to criticize the company but it added to the segment.
The MJF/Devil stuff felt a little corny to me. Part of me wonders if they're going to rush this thing if MJF is really hurt bad, but we'll see what happens.

Yeah I was surprised that the part of the show I liked the least was MJF’s whole promo and angle. Rest of the show was solid, with some fun in-ring action. Went with a 7

I posted this in the live thread, but Swerve is the first ever AEW wrestler to get a clean pin on Jay White. I was expecting that one to go to a draw or Jay to get another dirty win. So that was really surprising in a good way.

Yeah, my original post only focused on the positive, but the reason this show only got an 8 rather than something in the 9-10 range from me was the MJF stuff. I am an MJF fan, I think he's an awesome wrestler and one of the best promos in the entire business. He's earned his spot and deserves to be the champion. But, I am super iffy on this devil storyline. A tag match against mysterious ninjas who speak only via Sans Undertale text on the TonyTron is really evocative of the worst parts of TNA for me. If AEW sticks the landing on the devil reveal, it could definitely change my opinion for the positive but right now that storyline isn't clicking super well for me. (With the caveat that some of the collateral stuff like Roddy being a lunatic, Wardlow being a spurned monster, and Joe leveraging Max having no friends into opportunity is great...it's really just the devil stuff that isn't hitting for me.)

7/10, I was surprised that Swerve beat Jay as I thought they would go to a draw.
The rest of the show was okay, tuned out a bit after the Joe/MJF segment but came back around for the main event.

I thought last week's collision would be good but only the main event was, thought this would be a slog but was pretty good.
Like others not too impressed with the devil segment (although MJF avoiding his weaker material was a plus) and didn't like generic Wardlow squash or Flair rambling on about rehearsing matches.
But the tournament matches were strong (even Lethal), the women were good and a fast paced trios match does wonders for pacing.
8/10

I think MJF's initial promo was good, but everything with the NINJAS and the Devil challenging them to a tag match via RPG dialogue box was corny. Then again, Max invoked the ghost of TNA so he really should've expected that.

Really enjoy show. Solid pretty much throughout. I'm really loving the C2. Just does it for me hard. Better then 1st week and you know it's gonna get better each week

8 I think, went for the same last week and this felt very similar in terms of what was on the show. 3 very good to great C2 matches, 2 strong promo segments, a fun six man and a pretty good women's match, almost identical to last week really.
Set some interesting stuff up too with MJF/Joe vs Hired Goons, Top Flight/Andretti vs Penta/Kommander/Vikingo which should be absolutely wild, and obviously Cope/Cage. Commentary was hilarious too and Danielson was great in his role.
