Do they gotta be past their prime? Cuz Logan Paul and Bad Bunny’s wrestling side quests have been pretty successful. And didn’t Shaq side quest into rap in the mid 90s? Not to mention Jordan’s baseball side quest. Speaking of, Rodman had that whole wrestling side quest way back then, tho he obviously hasn’t been as successful as the more recent celebrity wrestlers.

Speaking of, is David Arquette's wrestling carreer his side quest or his main quest at this point? I don't even know any more.

Neil Young in the entire 80s was pretty much side quest stuff, doesnt wanna make a rock album, or a folk album, does a noise album, does a album of all synths and modded vocals you cant hear, gets told to make a rock album by the record company, makes a 50s rockabilly album instead, makes a country album, somewhere he winds up with CSN again for a album he only made out of a promise. and books it out the second that album is done recording his parts. From what I recall, Everybody's Rockin' (the rockabilly one) was Neil being a massive contrarian who decided to annoy the suits at Geffen and take them extremely literally when they demanded a "rock and roll" album after Trans and Old Ways, which was released after but had been recorded before.

Isn't Weird Al pretty much a voice actor at this point? It's been 8 years since his last album.

Used to be a huge fan of his albums but I’m so out of touch with popular music at this point I just don’t even have a frame of reference anymore for his newer stuff I think he has said he is pretty much done with full traditional albums and might release a single once in awhile He’s 64 and has been doing it for like 40 years so I get it. His tremendously talented band are also all in their late 60s and early 70s.

Isn't Weird Al pretty much a voice actor at this point? It's been 8 years since his last album. He has no contract. Believe it or not, all those albums he did were to full fill his first contract. As mentioned, he has said he's done with albums and with the ever increasingly disposability of pop music today, there's really no point. To do a good parody, the song has to be popular and have something of a shelf life so that people even remember what song he's paroding. Al's probably done with albums and will go with a release a single route, which is what he said when Mandatory Fun came out. Which, he went out on a #1 album, why wouldn't you?

And that makes sense, at least to me. Maybe I live under a really big rock, but it seems like there's been such a ridiculous amount of one- or two-hit wonders over the last decade that disappeared so fast that I honestly don't even know what their one hit was. Like I couldn't name any Tekashi69 song even while he was famous, I just know him as the dumbass with the giant "69" tattooed on his forehead.
If Al were to record a full album, maybe he would better off doing original songs that are simply overall style parodies instead of going after one specific song, like how "Dare To Be Stupid" was a parody of just Devo in general.

I'll always have mucho respect for Chris Tucker spending most of the 2000's doing relief work across Africa only coming back to do a third Rush Hour movie not for the money, but because he and Jackie Chan enjoyed working together so much on the first two films they just wanted to do it again.
