I don't think the movie that ITV2 is airing is the same as the VHS special you're talking about. It sounds like you're confusing 1987's "A Muppet Family Christmas", which featured Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock characters, with 2002's "It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie", a celebrity-laden "It's a Wonderful Life" tribute. Sadly, it's true. It would be akin to having the Mads' Wish Squisher invention (from MST3K) and running Muppet Family Christmas through it, only to get...THAT. I know TV and home media seem to be different as far as it goes, but due to music and character rights issues, it's unlikely you'll see AMFC anywhere but YouTube. As for IAVMMFC...it's memorable for me because: 1) TRIUMPH THE INSULT COMIC DOG is in it. 2) The alternate universe where Beaker = Goldberg. 3) My friend claiming Piggy became a prostitute (she was really a crazy cat lady) I always found IAVMMCM interesting simply because it's like a time capsule of that weird three year period where The Muppets were owned by that German media company instead of the Henson's or Disney. I think the only other significant project they had during that time was the Kermit's Swamp Years DTV. It's just strange seeing all these Muppets Tonight-era character floating around that have since fallen into obscurity, like Clifford and Johnny Fiama.
