I'm watching the Jawsathon on Encore, and something occcured to me. Do you think Martin Brody is related to Marcus Brody, he of "Indiana Jones" fame? Like, a great uncle or even possibly his grandfather?

Does the US dvd of Jaws have the "phantom fart" in it? It's when Quint is handing out lifejackets to Hooper and Brody, after he hands the jacket to Brody there is the sound of a loud fart.

No way. Marcus Brody once got lost in his own museum. It stands to reason his descendents would be bumbling fools as well.

Like, a great uncle or even possibly his grandfather? I doubt it. Its probably one of those coincidental crazy things. Then again, its not out of the question itself, since according to Lucas, the quite awful RADIOLAND MURDERS protagonists were the parents of Richard Dreyfuss' character from AMERICAN GRAFFITI. Then again, according to Panda Lucas, Han never shot first. ;D

In RAIDERS, Brody is this wise old mentor/ally of Indy....serious and useful. But in LAST CRUSADE, he's a clown. Useless. If he gets lost in his own museum, why would Indy bother with him?

Because he's a good friend. I'm pretty useless and clownlike, and my friends still like me. But yeah, as much as I liked LC, I thought the comedy was kinda broad at times. But we got awesome scenes out of it, like Indy going "No Ticket" after throwing the Nazi out of the zepplin, and Hitler signing Henry's book on the Grail.

Don't forget the opening with the late River Phoenix really fulfilling the "myth" of Indy.

I still get a little choked up when the bounty hunter guy gives him his fedora, and he raises his head and it's older Indy on the ship. Awesome moment.

You know, I still think Spielberg should have made the bounty hunter be Dr. Ravenwood.....and that off-screen movie setup would have made it better. Still, it works great.

The problem is, the guy was kind of a dick, as he was returning the cross to someone who had hired him and wasn't it's rightful owner. I don't know if that would have meshed with Ravenwood's character.

Maybe this was when Ravenwood lost his ways...and mentoring Indy, he redeemed himself in seeing a kid that has guts and conviction for history itself. Or not. It doesn't matter really, but it would have been a nice touch.
