Ahh, remember “selling”? That was a fun concept while it lasted, wasn’t it? They did, just not in the style you probably prefer to see. Should be fun watching the discourse from those that have little or no experience with Japanese wrestling because that was very much your usual high level Wrestle Kingdom match in pretty much everyway.

It was the style that put NOAH on the map if we want to go further.

They did, just not in the style you probably prefer to see. Guy gets dropped on his head then immediately dropped on the back of his head, he then immediately springs back into action like it never happened. Is he superhuman? Three things about this argument. 1) Crazier things have happened in MMA, which is why old school selling doesn't work as well these days. 2) As Terry Funk, one of the best sellers in pro wrestling history, once said, the best selling is the one that works for the crowd. And that damn sure worked the crowd. 3) As others have said, That was a very modern NJPW sequence.

I'm sorry they didn't spend five minutes rolling around on the mat grabbing their heads.

Ospreay is why I vouche so much for both SLK and AZM as those ladies in ring are pretty much the female versions of him...helps that he has had a hand in training with AZM and gave them the utmost praise from their match a few years ago.
And I said a few times but this hyper counter don't stop high speed style is gonna be IMO the defining style of this generation in the same way you say something like hardcore wrestling defined the late 90s and 2000s and Ospreay clearly leads the charge for this style overall but SLK and AZM are gonna define it for the women IMO and again the discourse is gonna be interesting to watch especially from those laying fresh eyes on this style that isn't throwing on a f***ing headlock every other minute to slow the match to a crawl.

Ahh, remember “selling”? That was a fun concept while it lasted, wasn’t it? Yes I remember many instances of selling in that match. See, that works. THAT’s selling a move. He got hit with a forearm and got knocked goofy. Perfect. So why is Osprey being hit with two brutal looking moves in a row and not even reacting to it? Imagine someone pulling that shit on Lesnar’s suplexes. They’d have had their arms pulled off.

Did you even watch the full match or are you just hyper-fixated on a single spot while mourning the death of selling in professional wrestling?

I'm sorry they didn't spend five minutes rolling around on the mat grabbing their heads. Yeah god forbid they make it even remotely believable. When I'm watching an action movie and the guys are flying through exploding buildings and glass and falling a million feet and getting back up and fighting, the thing I am lamenting in the theater is "God forbid they make it even remotely believable", I'm actually angry at the people who are enjoying it tbh, how dare they? There's this irl human thing called "adrenaline" by the way, that people have pointed out happens in real sports and in boxing and MMA, that allows people to drive through pain, so this is "remotely believable" to be a thing that happens, and has happened for decades, in wrestling. It's also becoming very apparent you didn't see the match and just came into this thread to derail it. Not exactly helping your case when some have accused you of only coming on this Board to bait and be negative. The last thread that happened, I defended you, by the way, way to make me second guess that...

Remotely believable. I cannot wait for the 180 min long headlock appreciation thread. Yeah, slow wrestling is its own kind of completely ludicrous. Someone with a debilitated limb is not remaining competitive for another minute. Both guys getting knocked down and laying there for a slow count to nine is its own brand of silly. As silly and convoluted as modern moves often are, wrestlers just popping back up and up and up has its own realism to it, in that those quasi-knockouts should be fight-enders and therefore the shorter sells make it more believable that this isn't just ending already. And I love those limb sells! I love watching Kenta Kobashi limp for a half hour while getting increasingly unable to contribute to a tag match. But I also think that it should be recognized as its own kind of heightened reality and drama, not as some kind of realism.

But wanting stern realism in pro wrestling is barking up a tree looking for the ground. That is what MMA is for IMO.

It's hard to call something "unbelievable" when you actually see it happen.
If a guy is actually able to get back up on his feet and get hyped up/keep fighting after being dropped on his head, or thrown through a table then that's something that legitimately can and did happen.

No more feeding the troll. Time to steer this ship back on track!!
I just finished watching the match. Absolutely lived up to the hype. One of the best matches in company history.
Ospreay should be the top babyface in the company going forward. Full stop. Have Swerve win the title from Joe at Dynasty, have Swerve hold it throughout the summer, and then have Ospreay win the title at Wembley.

AEW has legit many choices currently for future world champions right now Swerve Bryan Ospreay Takeshita OC Wardlow(tho he just started getting on the right track again, this one can probably wait more). Darby After he does a Coffin Drop from the top of mount everest unto Joe. Even a second Hangman run as a heel would be a legit choice.
