There were a few music edits on the show from what I remember: -Junkyard Dog came out to "Another One Bites The Dust". -Windham & Rotunda came out to "Born in the USA" -Wendi Richter came out to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". -Opening instrumental was "Easy Lover" -End Credits music was "Axel F" Biggest music change after this IIRC was at Mania 3 and 4, Steamboat came out to "Sirius" and at Mania 4, Muraco came out to an instrumental of "Jesus Christ, Superstar" It was awesome getting the WM anthology (sold separately) in the late 1990s and hearing the original themes and seeing full length entrances or interviews cut from Coliseum. The Coliseum tape had the same song for Wendi and Hulk, some generic theme.

Took a bit to get to it, but Wrestlemania III was the first show to feel like a Wrestlemania. Maybe the most important event in WWF history to have that crowd and that main event. It’s in my top 10 favorite Mania’s and it was a joy to go back and watch.
-Hot opener, even if it felt kinda thrown together as far as the teams go
-Billy Jerk Haynes was hella-over, but he sure deserved that post match beat down. What a jerk.
-Sad to see Little Beaver get his life destroyed by King Kong Bundy
-JYD starting the precedent of faces losing and then getting their heat back by being a bitch in the post match.
-Weirdest face turn ever by the Beefer. “Hey! I didn’t like that, I’m not going with you!” 15 minutes later…”I’m now a barber!”
-Adonis blew it with his early celebration, but he had some great facials after and Jimmy Hart started his string of ass kickings he got on the night
-Slick getting stripped by Tito after the match that he wasn’t even in was really weird…but Slick managing a later match in tattered clothes was amazing too.
-Savage vs Steamboat was the first great Wrestlemania match and I love the storytelling of The Animal costing Savage the title after chasing him for over a year. The Animal never needed the title, so I’m glad they waited for him to get one over on Savage until he could help the Dragon.
-Liz was always a 10.
-Jake swung for the damn fences on that guitar shot lol
-Alice Cooper was yoked!
-Hacksaw is probably my least favorite face ever and he showed why again here
-I didn’t realize that the announcement of André the Giant that always gets played was from Bob Uecker until this rewatch.
-The crowd, story and pacing of the main event was brilliant. I know work-rate wise it’s not great, but I don’t care, this shit was great. A great main event and that reaction at the finish is bonkers.
Such a fantastic event.

The Wrestlemania 3 main event is proof we don't need 'workrate', we need spectacle. That match is fantastic.

The Beefcake turn seems like it's very random until you know about the background. I had been watching the show for almost 20 years before I noticed Gorilla's throwaway line about "Beefcake's funny-looking haircut." I said, "Wait, what?" and did some research. A month before Mania they ran a six-man tag on Superstars where The Dream Team teamed with Adrian Adonis against the Can-Am Connection and Lanny Poffo. They had Martel trapped in the corner when Adonis grabbed the scissors he brought with him to cut his hair. Martel did a reversal and threw Beefcake into the corner. Adonis cut huge chunks out of his hair without looking to even see who it was. Beefcake later cut a promo on Adonis. www.youtube.com/watch?v=C70hAqIluXsBeefcake wrestled a match a few weeks later wearing a bandana to hide the haircut www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAs1jOjGZmsSo they definitely set up him getting revenge on Adonis at the show, which was supposed to lead to a lengthy feud with the two but Adonis got fired and Johnny V took his place on the house shows.

Why more modern Manias (and heck, some Royal Rumbles with their entryways) don't bring back the Mania 3 (and 6 as you'll see) ring carts is beyond me.

I'm slightly ambivalent towards the main event. It's a match based on moments, it needed the beginning with the staredown and the failed bodyslam at the beginning, and it needed the big comeback and successful bodyslam at the end, the rest mostly just existed to logically tie those two moments together. It's a really hard one to rate objectively because even though I personally don't really enjoy the action in between, it's extremely difficult to call it a bad match because it did everything it was supposed to.
On the other end of the card, the opener is one of several matches from the early Wrestlemanias that I wish had got a few more minutes than it actually did, they were all decent workers who did what they could in the time allotted and ended up having a fun short match, but it would've been good to see the heels dominate for a little longer in the middle.

It's very much like Mankind and Undertaker HIAC in that regard. Two or three key moments, the rest of it just ties those together. In many ways it's not a great match, but those moments make it one of the most memorable matches of all time.

It’s almost ironic that he became so selfish because prime Hogan was, in hindsight, actually very good at walking a much less mobile or capable opponent through a basic match that got them over.

Oh for sure, Hogan had a knack for getting both himself and others over in a match, no matter the capabilities of his opponent. He would have always been one of the biggest names in wrestling, but if he'd have been less selfish going into the 90s and beyond he would be more fondly remembered by folk, and much more respected.

Watching IV now and Gorilla is insufferable on commentary. His garbage verbal BJ of Hogan’s match would’ve had me rolling my eyes out of my damn head if I hadn’t heard it before.

Wrestlemania IV…oof.
-I thought the usage of Bob Uecker and Vanna White was an excellent way to use the celebrities and helped make this slog a little easier to get through
-BNB winning the battle royal via Bret being an idiot was a good start
-These tournament matches are a mess. DiBiase winning via Andre interference in front of the ref was a nice start.
-The original Rock wins via DQ, just as we all wanted to see in a big meaty match
-Steamboat vs Savage as a second round match would be fire…so Valentine beats Steamboat instead. Great.
-Macho Man wins without hijinks over the Natural, the true upset of the night.
-One Man Gang starts his dominant run to the semi’s with a dominant count out win over Bam Bam, who was counted out due to the referee trying to get himself over via the loudest counting ever.
-Jake vs Rude sucked so much ass that it had to end in a draw
-Ultimate Warrior vs Hercules in a match between two of the roidiest fellows to ever grapple. Herc would be in my all-time bottom 5 performers ever. They really put Warrior over in this match with the classic dominating win via Hercules pinning himself.
-Dumbest double DQ ever. Hogan used the chair first, who gives a shit if Andre did in response?
-DiBiase vs Muraco was actually decent. I was pleasantly surprised by it, maybe the 3rd match I’ve enjoyed so far.
-One Man Gang continues to kick some ass, this time via bye to the semi’s. I don’t know how one man can dominate so much in one night.
-Macho Man wins via small package. These finishes are so bad.
-The Beefer wins via DQ, nothing better than spamming the DQ button. At least Jimmy got a haircut.
-Gotta be honest, The Brain’s Matilda-proof ring attire was great.
-Another DQ, this time for attempting to use a foreign object and failing.
-Demolition wins their first titles after a brilliant promo. I would listen to those two yell bullshit all day long if I could. I legitimately love their crazy promos.
-Savage gets some help to win the title, but he put on a great show all night and Hogan being there to help offset Andre made sense. Would’ve enjoyed him leaving the ring without celebrating with Liz though.
Awful show, but they booked themselves into a corner by making it such a big tournament. They go on a nice two year run after this one at least.

My cousin-in-law (is that a proper term?) was big into satellite dishes and managed to get an illegal feed of Wrestlemania 4 but without the voice. It was my first live PPV.
I finally saw it with voice when my dad rented and dubbed a copy of the event for me when it came out on double VHS. The intro on the Coliseum release blows the real one away. The extra added segments to fill out the 4 hours is really good too. I wish they had these available on Peacock. Especially the scene with Bobby Heenan getting his dog handler suit delivered.

Well, if you want to see a different experience that happened on the same night, the first Clash of the Champions aired that night with a Flair/Sting main event.

Have to watch DiBiase v Savage again, but from what I remember they didn't really have the a+ main event they were capable of.
Also, we're gonna have the problem the next two years of being stuck with a mid crowd

My Peacock has really struggled the last few days, so it took me a bit to get through V and VI again
Wrestlemania V
-Poor Rockin Robin, I think she would’ve been okay if she wasn’t so clearly nervous.
-Love the stair entrance, the early Mania’s had some unique entrances that went away for a bit later on. The stairs and the ring carts were great, IMO.
-Speaking of stairs, carrying King Haku down those stairs on the throne had to of been a tough payday. Shocked Hercules got the W here.
-Never forget the Twin Towers…beating the Rockers
-The Beefer continues his weird Wrestlemania streak with the double count out vs DiBiase. Both fellas were super over here and Virgil added so damn much to the presentation.
-Bushwhackers vs Rougeaus happened
-Wish they would’ve taken the last match off and given more time to Perfect and the Blazer. Really fun 5 minute match
-The Fuji 5K shit was hilarious and somehow made him seem more legitimate before getting his ass kicked by Demolition…who turns on the champs without actually costing them the titles? That’s gotta be up there for dumbest manager decisions ever.
-Hi Superfly! Goodbye Superfly!
-The only way to make this match more Quebecian would be to add the Rougeaus and Pat Patterson. Dino Bravo with the W
-Brain Busters vs Strike Force was fun
-Piper’s Pit sucked so much ass
-Congrats Big John Studd, you win the Royal Rumble and now you get to special guest referee!
-André sold his fear of Damian so wonderfully
-Bret was so damn good during his whole WWF run. Damn.
-Rick Rude should’ve won without interference, if only so Warrior didn’t almost kill the Brain after the match
-For some reason I feel like this is going to be the last Bad News Brown match I see on a Wrestlemania.
-Terry Taylor getting a win at Wrestlemania is one of my least favorite things ever
-Macho Man deserved better, but at least we got Queen Sherri out of this. This is what a Wrestlemania Main Event should feel like, even if it was due to Hulk’s lustful eyes.
Overall, I really enjoy this Wrestlemania. The Main Event is a major reason why, but there’s some fun stuff in there and I think an underrated match with Owen/Perfect. Piper’s Pit was awful and too many non-finishes, but that was a lot of early Mania’s too.

Yeah, there's a reason that Piper's Pit last few seconds are all that are ever talked about for it.
When I first watched Mania V, I instantly became a mark for the Garvin Stomp even if ti was long after Garvin's major career was over. Randy Orton's was OK, but the way Ronnie did it and Frenchie's selling just was perfect for me.
The interesting thing about what you said with Hogan vs. Savage is what a Wrestlemania Main Event should be: compare this to about 10 (or 12 if you want the champion in both those matches more seasoned). Both Hogan/Savage and Austin/Rock have larger than life characters involved in the encounters, but the Mania 5 bout the competitors are colorful in their own ways, especially in the ring attire, whereas there's a less cartoon (for lack of a better term) level to Rock/Austin (not counting Rock's Stunner sells) and both guys in black attire. Yet both encounters work in their own ways for Mania big time mains.

Wrestlemania VI
-Gorilla and the Body for the last time on a Wrestlemania and I feel like this is their best performance together. Outside of the backstage stuff about Jesse being in a porno, it didn’t feel like anything was too forced. Jesse was still a heel, but it wasn’t as grating as it was in previous years, which didn’t force Gorilla to come off as too dumb…besides the weird Axl Rose thing lol
-I can’t watch Robert Goulet without thinking it Will Ferrell’s impression of his single the Thong Song lol
-Koko and Frankie are out to do the job to the Model. I loved that gimmick, but he would’ve been so much better with the slicked back hair throughout the run. Harmless, but fun opener.
-Also, I loved all of the backstage stuff on this show, from the vignettes and video packages to the interviews. Good stuff all around, even the weird Steve Allen stuff that was 20 years too late.
-Demolition with a monsterous pop to beat the Colostomy Connection. Their pop was huge, but nothing like Andre turning face on the Brain after. Damn, what a great way to end his run.
-Earthquake with a wonderful squash of that scumbag Hercules
-Mr. Perfect losing to the Beefer used to bother me, but it was such a damn flukey way to lose that I don’t mind it as much now. Still doesn’t make sense for the Beefer to get that reward, but whatevs.
-I feel like something is missing here. Like a long promo and match, but that might just be me.
-Steve Allen puts down the Bolsheviks and then they got cheated by the Hart Foundation. What a gip, could’ve been a classic if it was a fair fight!
-Tito can’t win
-Common Man Dusty had such a great theme, this is a fun mixed tag match, but both men deserved better. At least Sherri got to wrestle after being pushed out of V vs Rockin Robin
-My cousins, the Orient Express over the Rockers in a result I don’t understand
-DDP would perform in the same arena 12 years later in his only real Wrestlemania match. I love that a chauffeur in WM6 beat a child from the crowd from the same event in WM18
-USA! USA! USA!…in Canada. This is one of the many reasons I didn’t like Hacksaw
-Couldn’t have Jake winning the Million Dollar Belt, so glad he got to throw some cash to Mary Tyler Moore at least. Jake’s promo is great before this one too.
-the Bossman Slam looks great in this win over Akeem. Would’ve liked to of seen the Twin Towers get more time, but we had to hear the song instead.
-Rick Rude beats a murderer in the semi Main Event
-The Ultimate Warrior had such great physical charisma that he really could have great matches with the right opponent in the right situation. This is the perfect time for him, just like WM7 was.
-A brilliant main event that rides the emotions of the crowd, gives each guy a visual pin, lets Earl do his terrible near fall count and has the funniest test of strength ever.
Overall, I highly approve this one. The iffy matches are quick at least, the main event is iconic and this crowd is phenomenal from start to finish. A must watch.

It’s one of the only things I really enjoyed about Ronnie Garvin and a ton of that goes to Frenchy.
