I'm kinda leaning towards Gable. Sami has just come off a tad too whiny for me during this redemption story. I think Gable would be fun since he came so close to toppling Gunther last time.
I'm like 99% sure it will be Sami though.

Still holding on to hope for Gable.
I love Sami but he deserves to go after the world title, not a midcard belt he already held several times.

I wouldn't mind watching him beat the snot out of Dominik Mysterio again for like a half hour.

I'm still holding out hope that the gauntlet ends in some sort of controversy, causing it to be a 7 man ladder match at Mània. I really want to see one live.
It also got my hopes up how Gunther had mentioned he has "raised the IC title to new heights.".

I want Gable (or Zayn a close second), but I think it will be Zayn.

Up until Monday night's hallway confrontation, I was good with Sami Zayn. But in one promo, Chad Gable lit a fire under me as a fan that no amount of empty arena Sami Zayn interviews could.
I could live with Zayn or Gable, but if there were ever a moment to mint a new star, this is it for Chad Gable. Sami Zayn had his moment in the sun last year, he'll have plenty more to come. This is Gable's time.

Gable, it needs to be Gable
I love Sami but his promos lately aren't endearing me to him, Gable feels like the bigger story and I feel like Sami's gonna get screwed in the Gauntlet.

I think it should be Gable. I kind of thought the promo last night was a little stilted but he makes most sense. I don't even think he needs a super long run with it, but it just feels like the most logical story. Sami needs to get into the match with Drew and Seth somehow.

I'm choosing Gable. Sami may be the ultimate underdog, but he's a made character. Gable has been lighting up the undercard and really only has "Shoosh" & Shorty G to show for it.

I think Sami but he will lose. Jey will win the title in France

Gable is getting the bigger response, I love Sami and a few weeks ago would have opted for him but it's clear the previous story with Gable has stuck with people and they should see that through.

In my order or preference: 1-Nakamura. His goal should be that he wants to make the IC title irrelevant again, like when he held it! Nakamura's weirdness and Gunther's disappointed dad vibe would make for a great build up. Then Nakamura can lose like he always does. 2-Gable has a good angle, but it feels like we did it already. This lost some luster since it was on the back shelf for months; but, he's the only one that feels like he should actually win. 3-Bronson is a big meaty man that can slap some meat. Not much story there, but he's Big E approved. 4-I'm not feeling Sami's sob story this year. Last year he was doing the best character work in all of WWE. This year, not so much. I even don't want to see this version of Sami go on to Wrestlemania. 5-Ricochet is a jobber. He has no right being in this match. 6-JD McDonagh is JD McDonagh. He has no right being in this either.
Jey and Ivar should be in this match instead of Ricochet and JD. They should not win, but they have way more right to be in it.

If Gunther's winning then Sami. If Gunther's losing then Gable.
Sami feels like a weird choice to end this reign. Jey and Gable are the ones I'd like to see do it most. Sami's next title feels like it should be a world title, not the IC.
My completely fantasy booking for the next year, some more realistic than others, is for Gunther to beat Sami, Jey beats Jimmy, Drew beats Seth and Cody beats Roman. At Backlash Jey beats Gunther. Sami wins MITB. At Summerslam/Bash in Berlin Gunther beats Cody and Sami beats Drew. Gable beats the heel who takes the IC title from Jey (Kaiser?) and if he's over enough eventually re-visit Gunther/Gable but for the world title at Mania 41.

I was at the show last night and posted this in the live thread, but really feel like it needs to be Gable. He got the biggest pop from the crowd when Pearce was listing the challengers. Also, I don’t know if it’s an outlier or a trend but Sami was noticeably less over than I thought he’d be and there were actually some audible “Sami sucks” chants near me. I think him winning might run the risk of the crowd turning on him more.

I'm torn between Gable and Sami but I'm choosing Gable.
Sami's already made. However, a win over GUNTHER will take Gable to the next level. I have a feeling HHH is aware of Gable's "most underrated" award from the Observer subscribers.
Plus, I think Gable's first challenge on Raw was long enough ago that many won't care that they're fighting again.
Star making opportunities can sometimes be hard to come by. I hope they end up making the right decision here. Although I also wouldn't be surprised if Pearce loses control over the situation, throws up his hands and books a multi-man at Mania anyway.
