Hogan always had music for his big run, right? Eye of the Tiger and then Real American. I'll always associate Venice Beach, California with Hulk (sorry Sting). I think during his initial run and in the AWA he was billed from NYC.
But Venice Beach worked for both of them. Younger me associated it with where the biggest stars of each company came from.
Not sure about pops for all of these, but they were memorable to me:
White Bear Lake, Minnesota (Jim Brunzell)
Stratford-on-Avon, England (Chris Adams)
Sunset Beach, Hawaii (Don Muraco)
Paradise Valley, Arizona (Superstar Graham)
Did anyone use Denton, Texas for any of the Von Erichs yet?
"From Montreal, Quebec, Canada...BUT SOON TO RELOCATE INTO THE UNITED STATES..."
(and its spinoff, "Now residing in Memphis, Tennessee...")
Use Memphis for Jerry or Honky, actually.
Tocula, Mexico (Tito Santana)
The Dark Side of America (Dark Patriot)
Adrian Adonis' "from New York City"
Charlotte, NC...but for 80s me that was more for the Junkyard Dog than the Nature What's His Name.
Downer's Grove, Illinois (Lanny Poffo/The Genius)
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (and he claims to be Canada's Greatest Athlete...)
Vero Beach, Florida (Terry Taylor/Red Rooster)
Harlem, New York (moreso as Bad News never had music)
From Deepest, Darkest Africa
From the Department of Correction, in Cobb County, Georgia...
City of the Angels for The Fantastics
The island of Fu Yu Tu (Japan)
And since we're bringing up 1986 WWF (thanks, OVP Podcast!), not a hometown fakeout, but Real American for Paul Orndorff. Just...THAT.
Actually, and especially in the WWF, a LACK of a hometown, not even a Parts Unknown, meant a monster was coming.
