I like Orton, but my major knock against him will always be that there aren't a whole lot of matches from his career that I ever see myself going back and rewatching.

His first WHC run in 2004 because he was the youngest world champ in history
His Age of Orton title run from No Mercy 2007 to Backlash 2008 was memorable as well because he was so dominant as the WWE champ while had clean wins over Triple H, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels and Jeff Hardy which made him even more dominant. During that run, Orton was definitely WWE's top heel at the time.
His WWE title run during the Authority era from 2013 to WM 30 because those wars he had Cena and Bryan while him was also the most hated heel at the time.

I remember some of the title wins, but not so much his reigns. I find him boring generally tbh

I have found his matches consistently dull, granted with a kickass finisher.

I remember really not having much use for Orton when I was watching in 2004, but after awhile I'd check in on WWE from time to time and it felt like he had developed a good feel for things like match layout and his overall character demeanor and presentation. Problem was, even then, he'd just rarely deliver once the bell rang. Not terrible, but nothing to really hang your hat on. I feel like Orton didn't truly become reliable in the ring until like the Christian feud or so. Before that dude had occasional spurts of greatness but usually just spammed chinlocks.

I remember liking Orton in I think '09 when he was bald with The Legacy as champion.

The issue with a lot of Orton's title runs are that they were intertwined with HHH, who from 2002-onwards was the worst wrestling character of all time in terms of how he was booked, and by far the most selfish since WCW Hogan. No one other than Batista looked good after wrestling/feuding with HHH from 2002 to the time he called it quits. He was a heel that never showed weakness and a babyface that never showed vulnerability, and Orton got the worst of both of those roles.

My personal feelings on Orton the last... many years:
If something looks good on paper beforehand, it's normally boring/letdown/lame. If something sounds dumb on paper beforehand, it's normally pretty cool and Orton leans into it and excells.
Cena vs Orton? Boring as shit. Orton burning down Bray's crapshack or teaming with Riddell? Brilliant.

The one I most remember was his 2007 one that went pretty long. The main thing I recall was how much of a useless chickenshit heel he was presented as, and it was dreadful television. I'm pretty sure just about every defence he had involved some lazy heel bullshit, which was weird since they'd spent so much of the summer leading into that run presenting him as Cena's equal.
Also this was when he started transitioning into the slower methodical version of himself, but still had the upbeat pop rock song which just tonally didn't work.

Tthe one that started with swapping the title back and forth with Christian and ended with getting squashed by Mark Henry. It was only a one month reign, but the bookends were very enjoyable and memorable, so it counts for me.

Even at a very young age, Orton was very reliable in the ring as the matches he had with Foley, Taker, Benoit, Edge, HBK and Cena were definitely entertaining to watch. Despite chinlocks, Orton had always delivered big-time matches at a young age such as his match with Foley at Backlash 2004, match against Edge at Vengeance, Taker at WrestleMania 21, Cena at Summerslam 2007, Rey at No Way Out 2006 and Benoit at Summerslam 2004. He's not a flashy wrestler because his wrestling style has more psychology while his moves were very smooth and crisp. Even at a very young age, Orton was one of WWE's best in-ring workers at the time.

I mean I'm a freak and kind of addicted to stats etc so I can remember probably every random title change/PPV match in the 2 decades I've been watching so I remember all his runs but only a couple of them I'd call above average in quality. I think his Oct 07-Apr 08 one was his best.

oh man, I guess that first one where he beat Benoit and lost it to Triple H
He was a great secondary foil to Cena, but never really took the torch
