Lindsey Lohan was absolutely massive coming off of hits like Mean Girls, Herbie and Freaky Friday, then fell into the cliched trap of young Hollywood not knowing how to transition into adulthood and everything went off the rails. She seems to be past her issues, and she's working steadily again but man, what could have been had she not lost so many prime years. Parental abuse really f***s you up.

DeNiro. I used to see he was in a movie knew it would be amazing. Now, I see his name in a movie and know it’s gonna be shit. Or as Doug Stanhope “For those of you in your 20’s, Robert DeNiro used to be an actor”

Al Pacino - he used to be an actor who didn't yell all his lines. I'll never understand how he could go from a movie like Scarecrow to becoming a parody of himself in every movie he's done since the late 70's, with the exception of Carlito's Way. DeNiro. I used to see he was in a movie knew it would be amazing. Now, I see his name in a movie and know it’s gonna be shit. Or as Doug Stanhope “For those of you in your 20’s, Robert DeNiro used to be an actor” The smartest thing Joe Pesci ever did was semi-retire before he had a chance to lose his edge.

Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings is one of the best trilogies ever, King King I didn't enjoy as it was too long but it's well regarded. Then it's been downhill from there--District 9 was good, TinTin was OK, then The Hobbit which got worse with every film and then the mess that was Mortal Engines. Given that Jackson's gotten critical acclaim for They Shall Not Grow Old, Get Back, and his work in bringing the "Now and Then" Beatles song to fruition; if he once lost his way, it appears he's very much found it again. As far as stars/actors I'd say Jared Leto definitely falls into that category. I know it's somewhat in vogue to state he was always a questionable talent, once upon a time he was a genuinely good dramatic actor who excelled in various roles. But at some point, he got caught up in "the Method", turned more self-indulgent with 30 Seconds to Mars, focused way too much on his weird faux cult, and eventually became a meme about obnoxious actors. Its honestly a real pity to see him go from something like Requiem for a Dream where he nails the role to loud schlock like Suicide Squad where he just doesn't work.

While mileage may vary, 30STM was once a genuinely good band, which progressively shed members until only the Leto brothers remained, and their last two albums have been absolutely awful.

Will Smith's decline is weird, he went from making blockbusters and films that received critical acclaim to films that were just kind of mid. They weren't weird passion projects like Cage or Travolta, they're just films that existed and probably would have done exactly the same without him. It's like he didn't want to act, but felt had to keep acting out of fear of being left behind the way he was in music so took busywork projects.

A big reason why Smith got as big as he did was because he was dilligent, maybe even a little obsessive, about studying successful box office trends and jumping on the bandwagons at the right time, and it served him well for about 15 years. Since the late-'00s he's very clearly been out of touch with popular trends, so settled into a routine of sequels and paycheques.

Amanda Bynes. A loooooong way from Hollywood these days, but if she's happy and well, more power to her. In addition to legit mental health issues, there's the whole Quiet on the Set stuff....

I still think they should have released the movie with the Graham Norton interview included, and it might have gotten a few more people to watch it.

She seems to be past her issues, and she's working steadily again but man, what could have been had she not lost so many prime years. There was a lot of hype around her with prominent critics pegging her for an oscar in the next few years etc. It seems that she bought into her hype a bit too much and fell down a path that too many young people who are suddenly famous fall into.

Arnie after True Lies.
That was his last great film. His movie career has been shit ever since.

Some of these people like, DeNiro and Pacino, is that when you get to a certain level of fame producers / directors / hell even some of the audience... don't want to see them act any more.
they want them to do a greatest hits parody of themselves.
(Sometimes you don't have to be that talented for it to happen either see William Shatner who has been doing a Shatner impression for the majority of his career.)

There are some musicians that seemed to have disappeared (not necessarily for bad reasons). Dido, David Gray, Paula Cole, etc.
Now maybe they are still doing things and I'm the one out of touch.

Has Johnny Depp been in anything worthwhile since… like, the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie? I can barely think of anything he’s done in the last decade that didn’t take place in a courtroom.

He was alright in Murder on the Orient Express and the second Fantastic Beast film, but nothing stand out.

Yeah it's one of those things people forget. When the shit between him and Amber Heard went public, everyone was already just looking for a reason to be done with him. He was doing shit like The Lone Ranger and Mortdecai by that point. He went from being quirky in a fun way to being quirky in a "shut the f*** up and go away" sort of way.
