So we can all agree that wrestling is kind of a shitty industry sometimes (well most of the time) where many great moments, matches, and storyline can be absolutely killed by what happens afterwards, due to real life or just baffling booking decisions that followed. This is a thread to discuss them.
One that I've come across recently is the entire Jordan Devlin Vs. David Starr angle in OTT. It was a brilliantly put together storyline which used one of the hottest feuds on the indies at the time to build a compelling drama between the two top stars in the company, without feeling like a cheap cash in.
Of course this feud's kind of something OTT has pretty much had to treat as non-canon post pandemic, given that David Starr is quite literally the face of the Speaking Out movement, and Jordan Devlin was likewise accused of domestic abuse (even if WWE did clear him it's still a black mark on his record that will never go away, and given the discourse surrounding the culture in WWE the validity of that investigation has reason to be doubted.)
What are some other ones?

Let's get the obvious one of Benoit and Guerrero hugging at the end of WM20 out of the way.
The big celebration by the Hart Foundation at the end of Canadian Stampede hits pretty hard now given that less than five years after it Pillman/Bulldog/Owen would all be dead, Bret's career would essentially be done on top being of temporarily crippled by a stroke, and much of the Hart family being very bitterly divided amongst each other for various reasons.

Things like Rock/Mankind with all the chairshots were spectacular to watch at the time (and I don't think I've seen it more than once), but then after having watched Beyond The Mat with Mick's daughter being terrified at ringside and knowing everything we know about head injuries now that we didn't know in 1999 I don't think I would enjoy it on rewatch.
I don't know how all the Vince stuff will hold up given recent events.

The Calgary stampede will never be ruined for me. There will be some sadness attached to it because of how everything went wrong after that, but none of them did something horrible to others. They were victim of bad luck/ circumstances/poor choices so in that sense it's not ruined, unlike Chris Benoit stuff which is tarnished because of what he did later.

Macho Man and Liz celebrating WrestleMania 8 win... and I think it was the last time they were together onscreen for a PPV until we found out they were divorced.
Another Macho Man and Liz at Fall Brawl '96, when they beat up Macho, Hogan spits on Liz and spray paints her, which should have been a huge moment.... but a few months later they're both in the nWo.

Austin Aries ending Bobby Roode's record breaking TNA title reign. Such a great build. Sucks he's a serial rapist, on top of everything else.

Everything Flair-related at WrestleMania 24 has to be at the top of the list Austin Aries ending Bobby Roode's record breaking TNA title reign. Such a great build. Sucks he's a serial rapist, on top of everything else. That match is an absolute clinic too, what a shame Aries is such a a piece of shit.

Sucks he's a serial rapist, on top of everything else. uhh.....WHAT? During 2020 speaking out, at least four different women from different parts of the country came forward with the same story of how Aries raped them. He'd invite women to afterparties, deliberately keep them out very late and then tell them something to the extent "hey, it's too late to check into my hotel, can I just crash on your floor." Being intimidated as this was this known indy wrestler, they'd say OK. They'd arrive, he'd seemingly go to sleep on their floor and they'd go to bed in their bed, only to wake up hours later with Aries on top of them. Multiple different women from totally unconnected areas had the same story which really shows he had a specific predatory approach. f*** him, he's an absolute rapist asshole.

It's going to be hard to watch anything of the Evil Mr McMahon character knowing it was way closer to the real Vince McMahon than anyone could have possibly realised.

At the very least, segments where McMahon gets embarrassed or beaten up are, at least to me, a lot easier to watch because of seeing a scumbag get embarrassed.

Since Savage's career was one great storyline, knowing what we know about IRL makes his heel interactions with Liz a bit more uncomfortable.

Obligatory Chris Benoit mention. Someone named what we all think of. So I'll go a different route. The Sullivan feud was decent before getting all drawn out, but Woman being a big part of it, and knowing what it indirectly leads to...

Except dude has a humiliation fetish so we find out "embarrassment" gives him a hard-on. So, when you watch those segments you should imagine Vince being very turned on.

Since the OP mentioned Devlin, there's also the Devlin vs Banks feud in NXT UK. During 2020 speaking out, at least four different women from different parts of the country came forward with the same story of how Aries raped them. He'd invite women to afterparties, deliberately keep them out very late and then tell them something to the extent "hey, it's too late to check into my hotel, can I just crash on your floor." Hard to believe a guy who shoved his crotch into Christy Hemme's face on national television because she committed the unforgivable act of botching, could be capable of such stuff.

Wrestlemania 17 is regarded as the best WM ever and possibly the best ppv ever. But the end of it, Austin's heel turn sent the WWF/E's business into a free fall that they are just now recovering from.

Punk beating Cena at MITB. Hot angle. Hot act. They wouldn’t go all the way with it and send Punk to work other places to sell the story…and Cena was just champion again immediately anyway. Punk walked back in and they’d already blown the whole thing. Before Nash and HHH finished the job.
