I knew Tony was going to come forward with something like this, not that it matters to the "AEW is forcing him to say it" crowd. I find it really bizarre/kinda creepy how some wrestling fans will immediately impose their preferred real-life interpretation of the facial expressions of wrestling personalities (who are, y'know, professional entertainers) in a way that just happens to fit their own beliefs and biases. It's one of the many reasons I'm over the "blurring the lines" type booking, since it just feeds into that. Also when fans just ignore something said in an out-of-character interview in favor of substituting their preferred reality. Like when Cody made those super classy remarks about AEW in response to the Punk interview, and it gets a flood of "Cody's a politician, he knows the right thing to say, but we know how he really feels, wink wink." No you f***ing don't. Don't put words in his mouth just because you wish he'd taken some shots instead. It's weird, stop it. Remember this photo of Kevin Owens at a WWE house show a few years back, and how so many people took it as "HE WANTS TO LEAVE" and not in its actual context? Yep, the armchair psychologist thing is definitely a recurring issue.

Tony Schiavone is obviously lying because Tony Khan told him to even though Tony isn't a real boss and if it's not that then I'll think of something else, AEW is dying

I actually had a newz site come across my Facebook feed that had hired a body language expert to analyze the damn footage! And by “hire” they meant “checked with my homie Ray who says he’s a ‘body language expert’ because he took a psych class once in community college.”

I actually had a newz site come across my Facebook feed that had hired a body language expert to analyze the damn footage! I can only imagine the stunning analysis job they did: *CM Punk lunges at Jack Perry and grabs him* Expert: So at THIS point Mr Punk was very upset at Mr. Perry Gee thanks, I would have never been able to figure out that out on my own

I just want to say that Tony Schiavone’s career renaissance and his zero tolerance for bullshit is my favorite surprise from AEW

I'm dumb as hell and even I know being a "body language expert" is BS.

Let’s not all forget the time EC3 started coming out and doing the laziest “I don’t give a shit” point at his letters/turn around move, and there were some saying, “this is gotta be a Vince lazy millennial gimmick” when in actuality it was EC3 not giving a shit. Sometimes body language is spot on, sometimes it’s not 🤷🏼♂️.

That's a pretty long-winded way to say ''No.''

That's a pretty long-winded way to say ''No.'' Tony Khan speaks in long-windedness to basically get to a concise point That is a very good question by the way

I think the major takeaway here is that his answer was: In total context of the story between FTR and The Young Bucks, and 100% not at all a “Hell no I don’t regret it, didn’t you see what a big asshole CM Punk was that day! Remember when he was with us? Isn’t this embarrassing for him?! Now what, WWE!?” If he had answered it in that type of fashion I’d think we would potentially have some issues at hand but he just sees it as an angle, as it should be.

I'll give Khan some credit there - he managed to waffle for quite some time about showing the video and genuinely made it sound like embarrassing Punk wasn't part of his reasoning at all. I could almost believe him.
