The big problem with going for what's going to be the main event of Mania next year is... who knows what next year is even going to look like. Who gets a bad injury, who suddenly catches fire over the summer, who signs, who doesn't resign... does someone do something egregious and get fired outright, etc. Honestly, this is the first time in a while where things feel like a clean slate. Creative can look at who they have and who will potentially be leaving and figure out what sort of matches they want to do in the future and be ready for what changes that'll pop up. As much as Roman has helped in where the company is now, you're not building a show around the schedule of a guy who isn't going to show up for every major show anymore. You've unlocked a broader range of programs you can do and be able to slide in a big match with Roman for your bigger shows that can lead to the inevitable Rock/Roman match at 'Mania.

This is also how it used to work basically until they decided they'd book their world title runs to go for like a full year in advance without any pivoting due to like this guy is red hot and we should probably strike while people care about him... Also I hope in this new era... big moments happen anywhere as that's been a massive detriment to storytelling that only Mania matters. it just means that for 11 months of the year you don't do anything important.

It also helps they're taking more risks and doing big shows internationally. You can't get away with booking a televised house show in places like Australia, the UK, France, Puerto Rico etc when you attach a brand on it, these things have to have some kind of meaning and substance and things to keep those people watching your product, hence allows for more important stuff to happen on those shows.

Brock Lesnar is implicated in Vince McMahon's sex trafficking allegations and gets cast out of the picture. Charlotte Flair blows out her knee and misses out entirely. Jade Cargill makes the jump from AEW. GODDAMN CM PUNK F***ING CAME BACK. THE ROCK HAD AN AWESOME HEEL RUN. For all the hell we know, the main event could be Dante Chen v MJF for f***s sake.

I think it will be someone young like Bron Breaker or at least fresh to the top of the card. I think Hunter will be looking for that guy to be his guy for the next decade or more.

You mean they don't want them to end up like... Insurrection or Rebellion from the Attitude Era where literally nothing of note happened and they felt like complete afterthoughts even on television

I’d bet money on Roman v Rock unless they do it at Summerslam

I vote Punk.
Yes, he gets to finish his story of wanting to main event a Mania, but there's another story that hasn't been finished.
My bold prediction? His main event also finishes his unfinished story with MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN.
