I first noticed them during the 2016 Ghostbusters film discussion where there were a noticeable number of bots both promoting and criticizing the film. Since then most movies, tv shows, politicians, any sort of social movement that gets popular enough to earn a hashtag has little bot armies both for and against it. TK was certainly correct to claim that a sizable amount of anti-AEW social media accounts are bots he just looked a bit whiny because it’s something everyone in the entertainment industry has to put up with. Never really noticed much anti-WWE bot activity but think it’ll be just a matter of time now they have new corporate bosses who will attract the ire of whoever organizes this nonsense. It's not even a whoever; for the cost of a night of take-out, you would have more money than it actually takes to set up a twitter account with thousands of followers that does nothing but post toxic nonsense underneath official AEW posts. It's trivial. The hardest part would just be that you'd need to find the websites that offer those services and pay them to do it.

There's definitely been a surge in recent years. Elon's blundering on Twitter has made that the worst, but other places are affected as well.
The thing is that it doesn't have to be hundreds or thousands driving a bot surge, either, it can just be a handful of sad people with too much time on their hands.
It just feeds and rebounds off each other.
Why it's a good idea to tune out a lot of social media for things you follow. Really, it's much better that way.

Outside of promoting a business I struggle to imagine how anyone can weigh up the positives and negatives of being active on twitter (or most other social media) and choose to stay on. It was depressing years ago and seems to have only gotten worse.
Disengage and your life will be all the better for it.

I found them absolutely terrible for my mental health. I've had different accounts over the years for things such as wrestling promotion, music, general photography, or blog type stuff. It doesn't matter what it was, it effected me eventually. So they are platforms I flat out avoid now. Never actually had Twitter, but it always seemed to be a place of negative discourse.

AEW is the best wrestling promotion in the world with constantly good wrestling and tv shows so its only natural for people to want to slate it and bash it, the hardcore WWEfans are the worst and every week on WWE tv they seem to take a shot at AEW so as good business WWE seems to be doing, i do feel not many in the industry or true wrestling fans respect them at all as much as AEW and mostly you have think it is bots and the blinded WWE supporters doing the criticising.

Someone liking WWE doesn't make them less of a "true wrestling fan" than anybody else, so stop trying to push that narrative. I try to be respectful of AEW and their fans because I'm not watching the shows regularly enough to judge their quality accurately, so my commentary on 99% of their stuff is very limited. But this situation where crowds are a bit down and ratings are a bit down (even though they're perfectly fine judging by the demo rankings) even though the match quality is pretty strong and nobody knows why that's not drawing a bigger number has just led to some of you guys being so angry. Let me just ask... What's more likely? Jim Cornette (whose podcast I don't listen to), Eric Bischoff (whose podcast I don't listen to), Ariel Helwani (whose show I don't watch), Pat McAfee (whose show I don't watch), Triple H, a random collective of YouTube channels and a bunch of bored Twitter users running a coordinated and successful (?) smear campaign against AEW? Or that a bunch of fans who weren't happy with what WWE, 50+ year head start in the market, mind you, were doing went back to watching WWE after they got rid of literally the main reason why WWE had been bad for like 20 years and got better, and that AEW going a bit cold happened to coincide with WWE's yearly peak? "People didn't want an alternative to WWE, they just wanted WWE to be good"... OK, I'm sorry, some of them DID. A lot of it was because nobody expected Vince to ever be actually gone until the rotten prick died. I wish nothing but success for AEW. Seriously, them being around means more wrestling on television and more wrestlers in work making a liveable wage. But this thing of "WWE fans aren't true wrestling fans" isn't the argument to make to get more of them to come around to AEW.

I had the same guy literally threaten me with the exact same sentence across 3 different Facebook posts yesterday because I'd expressed support for Tony firing Punk. First one I thought was just typical Facebook BS but the second one made me think it was a bot and the third confirmed it. Either that or it was a very strange, very weird man

even though the match quality is pretty strong and nobody knows why that's not drawing a bigger number has just led to some of you guys being so angry. First off just want to say that I also don't agree with the WWE fans aren't real wrestling fans sentiment. I have zero issues with WWE fans or fans of any style and don't think being a fan of a certain style or promotion makes you any less or more of a fan. I'm in total agreement with you on that. As far as the anger....for me it is what seems like a constant barrage AEW fans have to take. I've literally never seen a promotion and fan base get attacked like AEW is now. I consider this board to be the best place on the internet to discuss wrestling because its one of the few places you can have a good conversation about wrestling that won't result in getting trolled. Had I made this thread elsewhere it would have been a much different result. However, on Wednesday night the AEW board was overrun with people trolling and bashing AEW. I have never seen anything like it on this board. Add in the fact that any AEW ratings thread will likely have a few "1" troll votes and it gets exhausting after a while (which I haven't seen happen on the Raw/Smackdown polls to this extent). The poll for Dynamite was troll bombed to a level I didn't think was possible on here. Just speaking for myself but after a while I think people have gotten fed up with the constant attacks which leads to anger. I know I had to edit a post I made towards someone in the locked thread because I just got tired of the trolling and fired back out of anger. I don't think Cornette, Bischoff or any other podcasters have anything to do with the ratings and attendance. I do think they play a HUGE part in the amount of people attacking AEW non stop.

You know how horrible and toxic the WWE board was? At points people mentioning stuff they enjoyed usually got treated with mockery and snark. And a lot of good posters left because of it. It's quite the opposite here where I've seen posters that aren't trolling or "bad faith" posting get dogpiled on because they said something the majority doesn't agree with. You shouldn't let the opposite opinions of others ruin and dictate your enjoyment of a show. A lot of people still trollvote the WWE shows but there's not a peep in there. This is rough waters right now and it too will pass and things will be better

This is rough waters right now and it too will pass and things will be better Yeah. When WWE was bad we all shit on it, and people who were enjoying the product had to take all the shitting. We shit on WWE, laughed at the falling ratings and attendance. We mentioned people leaving Backlash early, and the disastrous Seth vs Fiend Hell in a Cell match. We did all of that, and there was never any people being accused of "bad faith" posting in criticism, people weren't called anti-WWE bots. There was not a "just enjoy wrestling" response to people shitting on WWE (which I did as well). Calling people "not real wrestling fans", E-drones, Fed-shills, does not help the discourse. In particular when WWE was getting trashed and that was all fair game. I might be biased, because I enjoy WWE more than AEW, but I don't think I've been unfair in my criticisms of AEW. AEW was right to fire Punk, AEW shouldn't have shown that footage, and AEW is cold right now can all be true.

Yes it definitely feels like there’s always been that type of double standard on the board at least since AEW came into existence.
