Now Three Man Band will never get back together . I mean, apparently Drew’s contract ends in May and hasn’t been renewed yet so…

Still stunned finding out he was the guy who “Million Dollar Arm” was based on and the best they could do was “foreign monster heel”. Like, Christ, really? they had the easiest sports gimmick that would work of all time, just have him do an old timey windup like a softball pitcher and punch someone. that or have him nail people with baseballs.

You know, at first I merely thought it was a very weird coincidence, but given that’s now 5 for 5 on tonight’s releases being all Asian or Pacific Islander roster members, well, while not necessarily malicious, it is certainly an absolute doozy of poor optics at bare minimum, imo.

OK, so we’re just not doing the India thing anymore. Indian fans just love Reigns and Cena and couldn't care less about low/mid-card Indian wrestlers. As India is massive and has scores of languages, ethnicities and major religious and cultural divisions finding an Indian home town hero wrestler was always going to be a bit more complex than Sheamus getting a pop in Ireland or having Nakamura headline a Japan tour.

Not to mention that physically India is big enough to be its own continent if its continental plate was free floating in the ocean. It’s more akin to trying to find a handful of hometown heroes for the entirety of Africa than any singular European country for example.

Wait, Bruno Sammartino style man of his people wrestling logic doesn't work in the age of global communication?

Having said that, all five of the releases today are non-Americans. Cost cutting in the visa department maybe?

Veer always struck me as a giant missed opportunity. Dude has a clear presence and seems pretty likeable but they just did nothing at all with the guy besides making him a generic monster heel who was barely ever on TV.

As India is massive and has scores of languages, ethnicities and major religious and cultural divisions finding an Indian home town hero wrestler was always going to be a bit more complex than Sheamus getting a pop in Ireland or having Nakamura headline a Japan tour. Also to add, like, doing a tour in India is always going to be a struggle because a) wealth disparity and b) because of A, companies pay people to come to recordings for their most popular stuff with very few able to get in and actually get financial benefits. It’s why YouTube gets so many watches from India because it’s (for the most part) free and why not even Disney can break through much there besides having joint ownership of a service (which is enough of a brand that it’s practically a part of Disney+’s own branding internationally). And also, the first time WWE really tried to do that was for a heel from Calgary who got more positive news from his actual home country’s government than the one they actually wanted attention from. A thing you want to happen to your next big Indian star.

Man the Xia release is making me even more sad seeing Kairi’s response to it on Twitter. Xia and Kairi were close friends, and according to Kairi herself, Xia “saved” her multiple times via her kindness. So it’s like an aftershock of sadness.

Quinn is soo forgettable that even though I made this thread and have been commenting on his release. I opened the forum and thought they had released Quinn McKay which isn’t what she goes by in wwe or is even her real name.
