I can't believe it.
Why would Seth re-sign with a company that's had him as a main event player for a decade, gave him a Mania main event against The Rock, had him be the guy that Roman can't beat, and where the guy in charge of creative has always had him as the number 1 guy?

Pfft did he even get a sword? Bro's getting a Liberace, or Elton John outfit.

Good for him. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't have wanted to see him in AEW, but he felt this was the best choice for himself and I respect it.

Dude's making bank, wouldn't be surprised if he hit the elusive $5 million a year with this deal.

Boy we’ve come a long way from November when people (not reporters just people online) were saying Seth and Drew were both so pissed about Punk signing that they were both going to leave when their deals were up.
They replaced the person in charge of contract negotiations and then immediately start getting deals done.

Yeah, if Seth signs I'd expect Becky to sign an extension to her contract too. Good news for WWE.

Here's my thing, and I say this as an AEW fan who does not watch WWE at all anymore: "creative fulfillment" doesn't pay the bills, and AEW can sometimes be a bigger risk than WWE in the long run even if Tony Khan could match or exceed any offer WWE would ever give. WWE's been good to Seth, and I'm sure they've paid him a LOT of money. His wife is also there, and he seems like someone who has a job for life in one form or another if he wants it and can wind down into a producer role where he'll get health insurance, etc. etc. Does the fanboy part of me want to see Seth vs Okada, Seth vs Omega, Seth vs Ospreay? Hell yeah, I do. But I also want to see talent get paid and be happy doing what they do.

I'm not surprised but I wonder how much longer he'll continue to be the workhorse house show main event guy. His body has a lot of wear and tear.

Hall and Nash were notorious for 'make money', and most folk give them shit for that attitude. I used to think that was the wrong attitude too, but now I realise that really is not a bad thing. I think it needs to be balanced well. No wrestler should be only in it for the money, there needs to be some passion, respect, etc. Which, some would argue in the case of Hall and Nash, that they didn't have that passion. I'd argue otherwise. Honestly though, this is a dangerous profession, and I would say it's getting more and more dangerous with some of the stuff we see weekly. If a guy or girl can make some good money doing this, that should be the ultimate goal.

Yeah, if Seth signs I'd expect Becky to sign an extension to her contract too. Good news for WWE. I'm 50/50 on it with Becky right now. Not that I think she'd jump to AEW or anything, but her daughter is 3 1/2 so it wouldn't shock me if she took some time off the road after this title run. I think she'll always have some presence in WWE, but I don't know how much longer she wants to go fulltime. That's purely my speculation tho

For the reason you stated about her and Seth's daughter.

At least one of them is going to have to go to part-timer soon once the kid starts going to school unless they want family & friends to do most of the legwork for their kid.

Between the 2 of them they're making anywhere from $5-10 million a year. If they both wanted to stay on the road fulltime, I'm pretty sure they could afford a live in nanny. But Becky has absolutely hinted at slowing down

Reading between the lines of some recent reports, too, I'm not sure that Tony Khan is especially interested in paying out the sort of mid seven-figure contracts that it would likely take to lure over WWE's true main eventers right now. At some point AEW has to start to focus on making money, or at least breaking even, and the roster is already sort of topheavy and bloated. I say this as one of the biggest AEW fans on the board.
