A clever, sharp, witty if irritating bastard, or a dull-as-dishwater sitcom stereotype?
House, all day, every day.
Jed Shaffer ~And if this entitles me to a "special cure" from Dr. Camerson, so much the better.

Both are great but House gets the edge because he's ALWAYS an asshole

Dr. Cox. I love his biting sarcasm. Good answer newbie. This post is full of irony. ;D

Well, "House" is my favorite show and I hate "Scrubs" with a passion, so obviously House.

House. Hands Down. Take away Cox's jokes/sarcasm and you have a ho-hum, run-of-the-mill doctor. Take away House's jokes/sarcasm and you still have a conflicted, secretive, pill-popping social hermit who's too proud and scared to let anyone else help him face his demons. Cox is sarcastic only because he's egotistical. House is sarcastic because he uses it as a protective shell to hide his true self/emotions. House elicits laughs AND emotions from the viewer (at least from me); Cox is only capable of the former. Thus, IMO, House is a much deeper and better-developed character.

Jed Shaffer ~And if this entitles me to a "special cure" from Dr. Camerson, so much the better. I'd take Dr. Reed over Dr. Camerson (I assume she's the blonde from House? I've only ever caught a few episodes of the show - good stuff, but I still prefer Scrubs) any day of the week. Hell, I'd take Nurse Espinosa over Dr. Camerson, too. Or Dr. Cox's ex-wife.

Yes but in fairness House is the lead character on a show called House while Cox is a supporting character on Scrubs. Therefore as a character Gregory House has to be more developed than Percy Cox. As I said earlier I think Dr.Cox is the best supporting character on a sitcom today. The guy has pathos, not to the level of House, but certainly when compared to other sitcom characters.

Somebody doesn't watch much Scrubs. Your description of House could just as easily be describing Dr. Cox.

Perry Cox, not Percy. I'll let it slide. And for anyone who says he doesn't "elicit emotion," watch the episode where Sacred Heart Hospital gets the organ donation from the woman who supposedly OD'd. If that show doresn't elicit some sort of emotional response from you, you have no soul.* Granted, everyone involved in the episode on-air did a great job, but the scenes with Cox and JD - and not just that episode, but may others - have always made me think of Cox as more than just a comedic character, but one with depth as well. Of course, I probably won't persuade you, but I'm always up for debate. *the existence of your soul may or may not reflect this statement.
