What does everyone think of this movie?
I loved it, and still do. There are some slow spots, basically where the dialogue is very heavy, but all-in-all it's a movie that I can pop in at any time and watch with enjoyment.
One thing still confuses me though... why is Matt Damon singing THAT song when he gets out of the bus after shooting the adulter point blank? That scene went too long without an actual payoff.

I'm pretty high on it. My favorite part is when Jay is asking what's going and god's voice says something like "All the answers you seek lie in my companion's eye" and Jay has enough and blows his top throwing his hat to the ground. "What the wax is that supposed to mean!"

I like it, both as a comedy, and as a mediation on what makes up dogma.
And Alan Rickman's awesome in it.

The Run DMC song? It's a callback to Chasing Amy, maybe. Not really. Favorite scene is Ben fantastic screaming down at Matty in the train station or wherever it was. "They had everything, and they detroyed it..." and so on. Dandy stuff.

Here's my question ...
After Bartelby and Loki are thrown off the train, their next scene is in what appears to be an underground parking garage. From the exterior shots, the area they were travelling through looked fairly woodsy and remote.
So where in the hell did this parking structure come from?!?
Jed Shaffer ~The squirrels need parking to commute to the acorn trees, perhaps.

Runs House? i think it's a reference to when they talk about Matt Damon's character saying Krush Groove was going to be bigger than ET, Krush Groove being the Def jam Records financed film starring Run DMC

Don't remember when, but at one point in the movie, Ben Affleck reminds Matt Damon of when he bet $10 that Krush Groove would be a bigger movie than E.T. I guess Loki is just a Run D.M.C. fan.

Whilst Krush Groove might not have been as big as ET, ET didn't have the worlds best cameo from LL Cool J

I know it's Run DMC... I just have never heard of Krush Groove before. It all makes perfect sense now. As for the parking garage where Matt and Ben argue, everyone knows that the first thing you build whenever you are planning on a community in the forest, is an underground parking garage.

I personally think that too much time was spent on the Ben Affleck monologue and not enough time was spent on Salma Hayak stripping.
But that's just my personal opinion.

I love the film.
Any film that has Alan Rickman, Jay & Silent Bob, AND George Carlin in it automatically wins.

I love this anecdote that Kevin Smith tells about making the film:
For months, I’d impressed upon Mewes the importance of learning all of his lines in advance, as this time around, we were gonna have real actors in the flick.
“What, like Ben?” Mewes asked. “I said REAL actors,” I corrected. “Like Alan Rickman.” “Who’s that?” “The guy from ‘Die Hard’.” “Bruce Willis?” “No, man the other guy.” “The ‘Yippie-kay-ay Motherf***er’ guy?” “That’s Alan Rickman.” “What’s so special about him?? “He’s British. And Brits invented acting. So he won’t put up with any of your ‘Snootchie Bootchies’ bullshit. He’ll tear you up if you’re not excellent, because he’s Alan f***ing Rickman. So you’ve gotta know all your lines. We can’t be asking people to leave the set because you’re nervous, like we did on ‘Clerks’. This shit’s serious - because Rickman will go ballistic if he smells blood in the water. You’ve gotta come correct.”
So naturally, I was pretty nervous when Jason and I sat down for our first, Pittsburgh-based, one-on-one “Dogma” rehearsal, and the boy was script-less.
“Where’s your f***ing script, asshole?” I sighed. “I don’t need it.” “You don’t need your script for rehearsals. Right. Take mine and let’s get going.” “I’m telling you, I don’t need it. Go ahead. Try me.”
So I turned to the first Jay and Silent Bob scene and fed him Bethany’s lines, and without looking at my script, Mewes delivered Jay’s lines in a letter-perfect fashion.
“Alright, so you’ve got the first scene down,” I allowed. “Let’s mix it up and try a scene from later in the flick.”
So I fed him his lead-in lines from the church exterior scene, and Mewes spits out the Jay responses without hesitation.
“You memorized all your lines already?!” I demanded, shocked. “Uh-huh.” “All of ‘em?!” “Yeah. Everyone else’s, too.” “Yeah, right” “Try me.”
I read him Loki’s lines from a Jay-less scene, and amazingly, he responded with Bartleby’s lines. I was dumbfounded, to say the least.
“You memorized ALL the lines in the script?!?!” “Even the girl parts.” “What’re you, f***ing ‘Rain Man’?! Why’d you memorize the whole goddamn script?!” “I don’t wanna piss off that Rickman dude.”

Linda Fiorentino for some reason has an attitude problem on sets.
She annoyed the MEN IN BLACK set and basically thats why she was written out of the sequel. Notice that she hasn't done much work, or significant work, lalely in H-Town.
Its like Troy Duffy. Watch that recent documentary on him, and it'll answer why he hasn't shot a film since BOONDOCK SAINTS.
