Pay it. It's not easy winning a case in court like this. Paying will be much more quiet, and much safer.

I dunno. Last go around in court all I did was pretty much plea guilty and that was that. I have a feeling it wont be that much different if I do it this time. I think the point though is that showing up in court keeps it off your record? And if you just pay it then it will be on your record? If you can keep it off your record just by showing up and pleading guilty and taking the class then do it. When I was your age (cue old man voice) I got two speeding tix, over 20, within a week of each other, and it was a mess.

Pay it off and be grateful you didn't kill anybody. 20 over is f***ing ridiculous, I don't care if you're being chased by ninja zombie bears on scooters. Exactly....WHY were you going 20 mph over the speed limit? Sorry dude, but that is just smurfing stupid.... Didn't you learn from the first time you got a ticket? 20 MPH is nothing. Try triple the speed limit. Hire a lawyer, and take some advice from Liar, Liar "STOP BREAKING THE LAW ASSHOLE!!!"

Okay, so last March I got a speeding ticket (20 over), went to court, and it ended up working to my advantage (had to pay up, but it didn't go on my record). A few weeks ago, I managed to get ANOTHER ticket, same amount over, in a different court jurisdiction (notorious for hardass cops and well, it's just generally not a place you want to be in trouble in), and well, I really, really doubt that lightning will strike twice in this instance. This being my second offense I doubt they'll be so merciful and nice. Do you guys think I should go ahead and go to court (I'm afraid of like, having my license revoked or something, I know that's silly, but still, Sherwood's a hell of a place), or just bite the bullet and pay it off? Pay it. It may not be on your 'record' but it's there. You don't have much choice. Be glad you don't live here in TN. 20 over gets your lisence pulled, a hefty ticket, and a driving class (that you have to pay for) on FIRST offense. Cops in the North are even worse--Vermont cops will pull you over for ONE over. You got lucky. Slow it down and don't press your luck too much more.

What state are you in, exactly? Driving laws change from state to state, so if none of us live in your state, our advice might not help you much.
What advice I can give you, is KEEP YOUR ADDRESS CURRENT WITH THE STATE. In Michigan, if you go over 7 points on your driver's license, then you have to pay a Driver Responsibility Fine. Now, the state only goes by the address on your license. I haven't updated mine because I was a college student at the time. So, all the paperwork and warnings to pay the fine never got to me.
Long story short, I got my license suspended, got pulled over, got my car towed, had to go to court, and pay lots and lots o' money.
Michigan is fine and fee-heavy, and I'll hazard a guess and say other states are just as bad. So educate yourself on such things, and keep your address current.

So I have a little experience in this field, but keep in mind, I was 16 and 17 when I got pulled over. The first time I got pulled over in Nashville, which is in Davidson county. They let me miss court completely if I went to a driving school and paid $40 for the class and the ticket would be whiped off my record. The second time, I got pulled over in Murfreesboro, which is Rutherford county. Since the first ticket was whiped off, they allowed me to go to the class in Murfreesboro and it too got whiped off my record. The point of my story it that since the first ticket was whiped away, they legally couldn't bring that back up against me since I complied the first go around. If your first ticket was whiped off your record, they shouldn't be able to hold it against you when/if you go to court for your 2nd ticket. and one speeding ticket shouldn't cause them to revoke your license You don't live in Franklin County like I do. They are the hardest cops I've seen around.

And on the insurance side of things, what insurance company do you have? I go through Progressive, and so far they haven't noticed a bunch of tickets and a suspended license, and I sure as hell haven't told them.
If you're happy with your current insurance, just keep paying them money and renew when they ask you to. If you do that, they probably won't look at your record. They only do that when you want to change something on your policy.

If you are really cool when you get pulled over, sometimes you don't even get a ticket. I have gotten away with so much crap it is rediculous.
